Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 18, 2018 3:37 pm Hi We're thinking of building the Glendale 45, with the following modifications - move leisure to the front (we have a nice view) - extend the garage so we drive through We have an upgrades budget approx $150k - this needs to include the site costs. Also a budget of $150k for the pool and hardscape/ landscaping Is this a reasonable budget or not enough? Re: Metricon Glendale 45 3Jan 18, 2018 8:35 pm Hi Sunnyglen, I think your budget allowances is quite realistic, but then again it just depends how extravagant you are. We managed to build the Hampshire 45 on a similar budget and quite happy with the results. Then there's other who have spent much more, and some who have spent much less. Just depends on the individual. There's many builds on forums, this forum has a wealth of information already, just gotta get searching. It also includes some big ticket items such as refrig cooling and solar panels. I think your budget is pretty spot on. See my thread for all of our upgrades to give you an idea. 😀 Re: Metricon Glendale 45 7Apr 17, 2018 11:08 pm I know right?? I keep saying to hubby, thank goodness I stumbled onto this site... I have found out a few things to look out for (we would have been caught out if I hadn’t seen the warnings from others). Plus gotten some great ideas. Oh yeah... and I checked my upgrades quote - the $161k didn’t include the $40k site costs. Oops! 😉 Re: Metricon Glendale 45 8Apr 17, 2018 11:12 pm shokel1975 I know right?? Oops! 😉 Haha don’t worry ours was over 200k it’s our first family home so why not we worked hard for it lol this also doesn’t include the pool and spa🤦🏽♀️ I guess while I add things like fireplace the hubby has too add what he wants too haha win win for everyone Re: Metricon Glendale 45 9Apr 17, 2018 11:16 pm Exactly - enjoy it. You want it to be perfect. This is our forever home (well until the kids leave home - and they are only 4 & 1 haha), so we are getting it right to start with. Re: Metricon Glendale 45 10Apr 17, 2018 11:22 pm Awww cute yes plenty of time! I have 3 girls 17,7,3 so one should be going in 2 week when she’s 18 haha well no not really dammit🤣 lucky for them I would love for them to live with me until I leave this earth but fat chance my 7 year old is counting down to her 18th haha she wants to travel the world! Can’t take our money with us when we leave in definite so put it towards a great asset for the kids! When do you start your build and what state you in? Just joined this forum tonight☺️ Re: Metricon Glendale 45 13Apr 17, 2018 11:27 pm Oh wow, you have your hands full too! I must admit I am a bit overwhelmed atm with kids, work and house plans. It is just crazy!! We have bought land in The Basin in Melb (literally at the bottom of the Dandenongs). Land settles in 2 weeks and Metricon currently doing our drawings ahead of prelim contract and colour selections. What stage are you at? Re: Metricon Glendale 45 14Apr 17, 2018 11:44 pm Our land titled last July thanks to the consulatant who saw us early in the year he never made any changes to our plan so come to colour selection mid last year nothing had been done wasted a day off work and had to restart from beginning🤦🏽♀️ Finally signed contract 2 weeks ago waiting for permits and connection of everything before slab goes down and off we go. We brought land in Berwick Water Estate south east suburb but not far from you and I tell you never ever building again such a stressful process with kids work home everyday life routines! We did look for establish houses but found nothing that suited what we both liked so was easy for us to build as we wanted it but so overwhelming just can’t wait for hand over!
