Damages for beginning construction after anticipated start d

Hello lovely H1 forumers!
Just a question for anyone that had to pay damages to their builder for beginning construction long after the anticipated start date... did your builder request this before your build actually started, or hit you up towards the end?
TIA

Hello Bridgetwitch (love the name btw!!),

We had a delay with our land title and had signed up to the titled land promotion. Suffice to say we have been hit with a bill for delay in commencement of construction and this has been tacked on to our bill and will be settled at the end of the build. Hope this helps.
We got it in the form of a variation before they would give us our start date.

I guess the only good thing is we don't have to pay it for months, gives me more time to save my Monopoly money.
