Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 16, 2017 9:07 pm We would love to hear about others experience building and living in Googong. We started looking at Googong just over a year ago and subsequently purchased a block in the area called Montgomery Rise. As was expected the November/December 2016 settlement indicated early in 2016 proved to be April 2017. Throughout 2016 we did our research, spoke with both custom and project builders, deciding on a local custom builder Vogue Constructions. Taking the best features and design aspects of both display homes and other architecturally designed houses we compiled a brief for our architect, Jefferson Godfrey. Making a number of trade offs along the way, we arrived on a design, size, standard of quality and materials fit for our budget. We have taken from the many lessons learned from the building experiences of others and hope that our journey benefits from this insight. I've just joined the forum here to gather advice, recommendations etc. I saw you chose Vogue Constructions. We are leaning towards investigating Rawson, GJ Gardner or Hontondo. Can I ask why you chose Vogue? I guess we need to decide on purchasing land first haha. It's an overwhelming process the first time you build! Would love any advice you may have. Re: Building in Googong 3Jan 08, 2018 9:37 pm Hello We looked at a number of different builders first before we settled on vogue. We had a fairly good idea of the things we wanted in the house but no specific layout. We looked quite a bit at Rawson however there were some things that we didn’t like about the build or the inclusions that we couldn’t change (at least without a significant price increase). Vogue were a custom builder so we were able to choose exactly what we wanted in the house. We also liked the fact that you deal directly with the owners. Another influencing factor was the block. Guild builders get first dibs on the blocks when they’re released. Vogue had a really good selection of blocks - the one we chose was very flat which minimized site works cost. We would recommend Vogue. At the end of our build they had multiple trades onsite each day pulling really long shifts just to get us into the house before Christmas. Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11828 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21618 |
