Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Bentley Homes 88Mar 19, 2018 5:19 pm Thanks for the replies - I think Bentley needs more feedback and reviews. I saw a negative review on Facebook which was promptly removed. I'm really hoping we didn't make a mistake in choosing to build with them. Our logic was that all builders have problems so might as well pick one whose design we really liked! Re: Building with Bentley Homes 89Apr 20, 2018 8:22 pm Hi Cat we have been in our house for about 3-4 weeks now I think and so far no problems. We have been having so many compliments on the quality of the build which makes us happy. We have also visited a lot of new houses in our area and we are glad we chose this house. Yes they did take ages but we are actually happy right now with a lot of things in this house ☺️It’s more about the design so if that’s why you chose your house then am sure you ll Be happy in the end. Re: Building with Bentley Homes 90Apr 20, 2018 8:28 pm Just advise if people haven’t gone into contract yet. Pls don’t get security doors with plan. It’s best to get it after your build. Whatever we chose we have again changed/edited it from outside company. It’s just from outside you get so many varieties for see through/ different mashes etc .. only this we have changed to different ones from the one we chose when we got the house. Re: Building with Bentley Homes 91Apr 26, 2018 10:52 pm Marlbling, congrats on moving into your new home! And thanks for the advice- yes we are going to get our own security doors. Glad to hear the build quality is good at least. Did you hire an independent building inspector? Re: Building with Bentley Homes 93Apr 27, 2018 8:10 am Checked out their website - they're quoting $330 + GST for each stage. Quite expensive. I've talked to some people who got theirs for $200-280 per stage. How much did you have to pay if you don't mind me asking Marlbling? Re: Building with Bentley Homes 94Apr 27, 2018 8:51 am We used Darbecca and had inspections at all stages. We paid about $3000 all up and are very glad we did. We finally had handover this week. Bentley took 348 days to build our house. Re: Building with Bentley Homes 95Apr 27, 2018 9:10 am Omg 😮 hope they paid out for being late ? Hope your house is looking awesome too ☺️☺️ Cat we paid $1233 before tax so $1356 .. am not sure if it’s a discount because it comes out to $339 per inspection? You can ask them for a discount.. when we had ours done we asked them for a discount so they gave us 10% at the time .. maybe it’s $330 now before tax so it will be more after tax ? Re: Building with Bentley Homes 96Apr 27, 2018 9:25 am Sorry to hear your building was delayed Mrs_W...hope quality made up for it! I hear you do get compensated for building delays though? marlbling, making a few phone calls... unfortunately getting an independent building inspector was a last minute decision and slab is being poured next week already. Know a few people who didn't get independent building inspections and they're doing alright (but I guess only time will tell!) So let's hope we can get someone at a good price! If not... we'll just have to trust Bentley! Re: Building with Bentley Homes 97Apr 27, 2018 7:23 pm Yes, we got liquidated damages. They still owe us some as the final invoice only included damages up to the date the invoice was issued. They owe us about another 4 weeks worth. We are a variation but we haven’t received it yet. It’s nice to have the keys though. We won’t be moving in for another few weeks though - need to do concreting and a few other things before moving. Re: Building with Bentley Homes 98Apr 28, 2018 8:14 am Omg 😳 that’s good your fixing everything before moving in .. gotta say that we spend so quite abit after moving in .. blinds $3200 concreting $5700 .. editing security doors $1200 fencing $3200 .. these guys all took cash .. so they have literally broke our back 🤣🤣 we still haven’t done landscaping lookout to the sky for some money to fall down from the clouds haha 🤣 still these are the stuff that the house needs the list still goes on for stuff needed but crap it’s a lot haha Re: Building with Bentley Homes 100Apr 28, 2018 8:23 am Our bank account is looking quite plump at the moment but not for long. $16k for concreting (we have a long driveway), ducted air con, blinds, security door, downlights, window tinting... I’m quite sure that we will never have money again! Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 I would never build with Fowler homes.
