Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 07, 2017 4:02 pm hello fellow members, does any one know what is section 76 and 78 of building act 1993? Got email from builder asking us to appoint some company to carry out all functions set out in section 76 of the building act 1993 regarding issuing building permits, carry out inspections of buildings and building work, issuing of occupancy permits and temp approvals. Can someone advise me what this is really about? Do I need to find out more about the company that is being appointed? Is this some kind of surveyor? Just trying to careful as we need to sign it. You can choose to apoint someone separately to conduct inspections for you as a third party to ensure your builder is doing everything correctly, but 99% of the time, builders will arrange a private certifier to sign off on each stage as well as provide your final occupation certificate.
