My builder laughed the other day when I told them that according to what they’d told me, we should get a site start before the end of the month right?? Didn’t fill me with confidence. Once they lock up tho it seems to slow down as the progress isn’t always as obvious. Hopefully you get that soon The upside is that there still 2 weeks until the end of the month so i will keep my fingers crossed that you see some progress. With a tap you're one step closer I think once i am at lock up even though it will feel slow i will be somewhat okay with that. To me, other than slab and handover, i see lock up as a bigger milestone and that i am very close to being in my home! Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 207Mar 19, 2018 8:03 pm Excuse the very average photo, it was a quick drive by today as the electricians were on site again. Down pipes and gutters have been installed I have also received my email to sort air conditioning out. The upgrades add up quick! Does anyone have any advice as to if it is worth upgrading the ducting to gold r1.2 (75mm insulation) ? I'm leaning towards yes however if it won't make much difference to efficiency/energy savings then i would prefer to use that money elsewhere. I'm definitely going to upgrade the controller, add in an outlet for the bathroom & make bed 2 & 3 seperate zones. I am leaning towards no but i have asked my friend who is a refrigeration mechanic/electrician his thoughts. My family think that as the outdoor unit is outside the kitchen that the living areas will be easily cooled anyway it would be more the front bedrooms that would be a tad warmer as they're a bit further away. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 210Mar 19, 2018 11:25 pm Fingers crossed for your colorbond delivery this week. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 212Mar 21, 2018 3:29 pm Yay for roof sheeting!! We did the upgrades - gold tubing, two outlets and AirTouch controller. Happy so far. No idea if the tubing upgrade was worth it.... Although considering how hot my water gets in the kitchen (travels from meter at front all the way to the back of the house) its probably been worthwhile! I like the ability to control the temps of the different rooms, and the air flow. Found that the kids room closest to the ceiling unit was freezing, so we crank it down to 10% mostly. We have 4 sensors - the living (the controller itself has a sensor), theatre, activity and master. One thing we didn't specify was the Colorbond colour for the cover for the wiring to the external unit. They used the standard "Classic Cream" despite our house all being Surfmist. Was a pain to fix it. I recommend you specify before install! Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 213Mar 21, 2018 4:24 pm we upgraded the aircon ducts and possibly the must-haves along with AirTouch controller. I can switch on aircon away from home and we hardly need to use aircon at our place as we also went for Anticon under the roof. We use aircon for about 30 minutes and the whole house remains very cool without any fans. Mind you we have windows all along our northern side of the house. Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 215Mar 21, 2018 5:36 pm Thanks for your replies everyone. I decided to upgrade the controller, as you’ve both said the ability to have more control of your system both from within and outside the home is a great benefit & great for the bottom line. I added an outlet to my ensuite and a zone to seperate beds 2 & 3. I slightly moved my master suite outlet however the rest looked okay to me. Looks like my return vent will be in my second hallway instead of main so I am super happy with that. I decided against upgrading the ducting as nobody could really confirm that it was worth it. The anticon brings me to another query, is there any insulation installed in the roof cavity with colourbond being the roof material? That was not something I can recall being offered at pre-start (wall? Insulation was) so I assumed there would be something of the sort being supplied for the roof? This is extra that you have to request we also only found out quite late about this. From memory, it was about 5K extra on the whole roof. I thought they would have to of had some insulation for the colourbond Re: First Build with Summit Perth WA 218Mar 22, 2018 12:50 am Once step closer to getting the roof on, hopefully very soon.
