Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 21Jan 13, 2018 6:25 pm Hi rattleAU i did just post this to tge other thread but here it is again. Your comments abobe made alot of sense and we can totally relate! Arghhhh we are at 103k! About 20k is a septic, power and water run in but there is also 27k of slab upgrades this is on top of the base price. We are questioning this! The total atm is 327k We have added to the house but not much just moved the pantry on the wall of the meals area like the davenport and lined the laundry up with everything else! The promo and inclusions are really bugging me because there is a huge difference. Our quote for the davenport 343 premium was 350k! A little out of budget Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 23Jan 18, 2018 9:44 am Sorry for the late reply Cleef85. We have been incredible busy with some personal stuff, work and build related things. Really like what you have done with the Kimberley 30. The costs are a pain and the ones you mentioned are a necessity I guess and you can't avoid them like some luxuries like pendant lights, which could be put off til later. Our previous build was on acreage and we had no choice about having a water tank (100% rain water out there), septic and long runs for utilities, then we had to have a guy come in with dynamite and blast away rock. It all added up substantially. Update on our build... * Finally got to go in and place the order for our tiles yesterday. We are on a country rebate system, so we order and pay, organise delivery when required and then DFH pay us back the agreed amount at the end. We went a few hundred over budget, but we organised spares in case of future damage, minor renovations and just making sure there is enough, so the tiler is not delayed. * Went and met the electrician on site this morning and gave him a copy of the plans with all our changes, like data points, spot lights, changing double power points to quads, adding 2 way light switches etc... We were told all along that we have a meeting prior to confirm the plans, organise changes/extra work, but nope. He gave me one day notice to be on site and I wasn't impressed that I had to finish work at 1am, get to sleep around 4am and then be up at 7am to go meet him on site. Anyway, that's done hopefully that's the electrical stuff organised. * All initial plumbing was done at the start of the week. * A plumber was on site to move the pantry plumbing over the to correct side of the wall. This was partly due to confusion with us having the different reps during the ordering process with DFH and to our supervisor's credit, he had them fix this one day after emailing him. Not bad as our build is a good 2 hours away from where the plumbers are based and we are not their only job. * Our Evaporative cooler and internal ducting have been installed at some point in the last few days. * Edit - Solar hot water was also installed. * Brickies are a third of the way around the house. Front and left side mostly done. * Plaster has been booked in by the supervisor for next Thursday. So, yeah, it's all happening and looking very real now. Will try to show some photos later. Having issues with my phone. Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 24Jan 23, 2018 2:10 pm Wired the home theater/games room with lots of speaker wires last night and insulated all the home theater/games room walls today with acoustic batts to help contain the sound. Glad it's done as it took forever. Insulation was not as itchy as I thought it would be too. Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 25Jan 23, 2018 8:01 pm I have typed 2 big replies and i keep losing them! Not sure whats going on. Ill keep this one short. Wow coming along so quick. Like your idea of sound proofing. We've been burnt with wiring on our first place. All speaker and HDMI was stolen. We think it was the plasterers as it was fairly rural and we lived on the block. We're hoping to walk through a kimberly very soon. There's one nearby almost complete I cant wait. I need to see things in reality ha ha. I'd love to see some more progress photos when you get the chance. Will speak soon 😊 Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 26Jan 29, 2018 3:57 pm Brickies are almost done. Really happy with the quality of their work. Really nice guy and his apprentice. They've been giving me little tips here are there while we are there watering plants and stuff. Plasterers had a guy come in over the weekend and measure up and install the plaster to the wet areas. Brickie was saying that they said they'd be back tomorrow with a crew to get stuck in with the plastering work. Finally got some photos off the phone. Older ones, but here goes... Bricks are almost done, but here's how it was looking last week. Just keep hassling them Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 33Feb 20, 2018 10:36 am We did. It was plastered with first coat. It was good to see it as we now know what we need to change. But everyone is different. Where are you building? What stage are you at? Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Woohoo!! #justneedtosurvivethemovefirst Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 35Feb 20, 2018 3:19 pm Cleef85 We did. It was plastered with first coat. It was good to see it as we now know what we need to change. But everyone is different. Where are you building? What stage are you at? We are building in Lovely Banks (outer suburb of Geelong) and are due to title in a couple weeks. We have our first big estimate, now just waiting to see it to see if we want more changes (sitting at 60k + in modifications already haha). I actually had a friend from work do a 3D model of the Kimberly for us but it's still not the same as being inside the rooms. After reading about the devonport and looking at it we are now torn between that and the Kimberly but will get an estimate on that and see the Kimberly before we make our minds up completely I think... Sorry everyone. Will do a photo update when I get a chance, but we are basically at painting stage and locked out. Some minor things have had to be addressed, but supervisor has been onto them and we are pretty happy overall. No completion date yet, but we are not in a rush. I just want to know, so I can book my time off at work. Talk soon. Re: Dennis Family Homes - Devonport 363. Build has started.. 40Apr 15, 2018 1:11 pm Desperate for more pics!! Macedon 322/DFH 2016!!
