Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 28Jun 17, 2018 7:42 pm mj-mac4 Check your light switch heights too 🙈 What height are they supposed to be? Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 29Jun 21, 2018 3:14 pm A lot has been done since last updated and now we are in week 12. Bricks, cladding, plaster, doors, waterproofing, architraves etc etc.... ......but I'm annoyed. Down light holes were found very off centre in the hallway. Turns out a beam is running right through the centre and was told roofing doesn't take into consideration the plan??? Anyway, that's fine, found a solution, owner supplied lights, put paid for down lights in locations that had battens (wiring already in place anyway)... Seemingly too annoying for our SS.... Why in the world they made these holes in our hallway and just assumed we would be OK with uncentred down lights is beyond me. You wouldn't see this in a display home, so why in my home? Outcome to be continued..... Because I want to keep this an honest recount of our experience in building with Coral Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 30Jul 19, 2018 10:36 pm Been holding off any updates as not a whole heap has happened and to be honest, we are so angry! There is a beam running down the middle of the hallway. Asked around, other Hamptons don't have this issue. Was told roof trusses not made to specs of the house? Whatever- we couldn't have been bothered. Surface mounted it is. Here is the big one..... Bricks have been cleaned, obvious difference in colour on front of facade. SS "what's the problem" "natural variations in bricks" "not an issue"..... Now area manager and brick rep will look at it next week. I'm embarrassed of my home. Think hard if you're thinking of building with Coral. It's not worth the "savings". Your house actually looks really lovely, but there is definitely a colour difference from the bottom to the top. I remember when we built our first house and looked at bricks, we went to their brick display and went "I like that one but I don't like the one next to it". It turned out to be the same brick with different mortar colour and it made one wall look lighter than the other. I don't know if that is what has happened but make sure they fix it. Our Coral home is finished and have PCI on Monday, but our SS is also a perfectionist. I don't understand how different Coral SS have such different attitudes. I do understand sometimes companies will get trades who may not be the best, but when so many things have happened, it makes me wonder. Area manager has called this morning and acknowledged the problem and it will be fixed. Thank goodness. Now to wait and see what route they'll take after inspection with the brick rep. It was mentioned to rebrick the offending area so fingers crossed it will look OK. Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 33Jul 20, 2018 9:30 am SKND10 bestspecials So sorry to hear of your problems. Our SS didn't want us going anywhere near the house until it was completed. That obviously didn't happen but the few things that weren't right were all fixed up. Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 34Jul 20, 2018 9:31 am Do you mind me asking who your SS is? We are about to start with Coral at Wollongbar, Northern NSW... I've been told that our SS will be Steven Hill, but I have not had contact with him as yet and I have no information on past performance. Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 38Aug 01, 2018 8:57 am So, what's been happening since your last update? Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13773 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4350 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74709 |
