Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2017 6:21 pm Hi guys, A short time lurker and have just signed contracts! Settlement is tomorrow so let's get this show on the road (or plans into council).. We are building the Hampton 26 (small double, wanted a single but small block so hoping to create more backyard) and hoping to start building early next year 😊 We have our tile appointment next week and I am in a spin flipping between warm and cold colours after spending over 2 hours at Beaumonts and still not sure on what I want! I am happy with the standard options for everywhere except the kitchen splashback so if anyone has a "not too expensive" upgraded kitchen spashback inspo they are willing to share, I'd love to see! Any advice going into this is welcomed! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 2Dec 04, 2017 1:13 pm Welcome & congrats. I don't know the Hampton will have to google We had same prob with kitchen splash everything I like was crazy $$$ we've ended up picking similar to a subway but it's longer and rough edged sorry can't think of name but it's in thread and we are having it laid herringbone. Tile was standard just had to pay for laying which from memory wasn't much and we brought extra to tile up behind rangehood. Sorry no pic as not at tiling yet Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 3Dec 04, 2017 9:45 pm Hello, we are building in tweed heads south. Are you close by? We went through Pete at Pottsville, he is awesome! We are building the grange 25 on a 525m2 block. We could be neighbours lol. Our land is registered and settlement is to be on the 11th dec. 😁 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 4Dec 06, 2017 9:01 pm Thanks Browndog! I was looking at a similar tile but I think we will just upgrade to a colour we like and leave it basic at this stage. I just want the three appointments over with ao I know how much I'm up for! Can't upgrade everything, wah! We already have waterfall bench 40mm and gloss finish upgrade in our contract, so I am thinking undermount sink would be nice but trying to keep it reasonable as I am nervous we will go over budget! I haven't heard anything from CS though and it's been a week since signing contracts which is making me a little nervous as I would love plans into council before xmas but have no idea what they are doing... When are you guys starting your build? I guess you can keep a look out for anything strange on our build, you'll probably be living there before we start, haha! Which lot are you at? We are 43/ lot 50. I will have to have a sticky beak at your selections 😁 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 6Dec 07, 2017 10:16 pm SKND10 mj-mac4 Hello, we are building in tweed heads south. I have second guessed myself all the way along with selections, especially trying to keep within budget which is a killer. Yes coral head office is so slow this time of year.. we are still waiting back for a variation on our plan because we needed to add extra piering for our plunge pool. Which has put us back a few weeks. I don’t think we will have our plans in before Christmas. Hopefully early jan though. We will probably get our houses built around the same time I would think. Your pretty much at the same stage we are. We only finished all our appointments a month or so ago. But we didn’t plan on putting a pool in until last minute so that has held us up. But I think it will be worth the wait. I hope your tile appointment goes well!! Your will have to post your selections 😃 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 7Dec 13, 2017 2:58 pm Hi guys, Tile selection done and dusted. I thought I'd walk out spending thousands but was happy with the range available so only spent a bit tiling up past the range hood and increasing from skirting to 2.1m in the ensuite (already upgraded the bathroom). Choices basic but my bank account is happy, haha! Main floors- Belga Grey with shine (on left but in 450x450, just didn't want to carry it around with me) Alfresco- Belga Grey with rough texture Bathroom floor and up one wall- Belga Charcoal (right) Bathroom walls- White (who knew there were so many whites????) Kitchen tile splashback- Grey bottom right Hopefully the look alright. Waterfall bench will be "Urban" from the caesarstone range. Clipsal next week (NOT looking forward to this $$$$) then colour appointment in Jan. In the meantime I am hoping with everything I have that our DA will be lodged before xmas but I highly doubt it.. I think tiles are the hardest to choose out of all the selections. I’m glad it’s all over now! I could of spent thousands but my budget was saying no 😂 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 9Dec 31, 2017 10:46 am Electrical appointment done and dusted last week and happy we only spent around $4500. We went down lights throughout all open areas but all the closed in rooms have the included lights and provisions for pendants in kitchen. We didn't do any fans, dimmers etc as my dad is a sparky so we will do it after handover so that has saved us a fortune. Here is our plan Colour appointment in a week and then we are done. If anyone has advice on sinks, that would be awesome, i.e. are the included sinks nice enough? We upgraded the kitchen benchtop to 40mm caesarstone with waterfall edges so I am happy to upgrade the sink if need be but really don't want to pay >$1000 and under mount is probably not a good option for us due to young kids who will surely chip it good... We couldn't afford a huge expense so went with gloss cafe tiles laid in vertical brick bond. Tiles were in standard range and we paid a little bit more for the brick bond pattern to be laid. Something I recommend is to pay a little more and get the tiles put up behind the rangehood. We only had paint in our rental and I hated it. Plus tiles are easier to clean. You can see pics of our splashback on page 41 of our thread Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 11Jan 09, 2018 5:16 pm Colour selection done and dusted. I'm a bit nervous with our brick selection as I have not seen the brick in person, only a few photos of houses with it (We did out selection in Syd but are building on the GC). Otherwise mostly grey tones. Exterior will be: Bricks- Savannah Cladding, garage & fascia- Surfmist Gutter- Basalt Roof tiles- Limestone Can't wait to build! Council application will hopefully go in soon... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 12Jan 09, 2018 6:57 pm Beautiful selections Steph!! You wouldn’t believe it Savannah was one of my favs. But hubby wanted grey so we went with the dark grey brick. I forget the name now but it’s on my page. You will be so happy with Savannah it’s such a pretty brick colour! We are still waiting to submit to council - CC has gone quiet on me. Lol I’ve sent her 3 emails today 😳 haha! Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 14Jan 11, 2018 9:26 pm Thanks! I feel better knowing at least someone in the street will like it even if I don't, haha!! I was impressed, we have been in contact with Coral this week. Apparently we are waiting on BASIX. I really hope that's it because out living arrangements are here, there and everywhere. Your pendants look lovely. I can't wait to look for furniture and the likes. We are literally bringing nothing but toys and clothes Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 15Jan 11, 2018 9:26 pm Thanks! We went for a drive through the estate and our neighbours are getting their slab poured! It’s exciting to see some action on the blocks but now I want to start building too! Hurry up coral! Lol 🤨 Re: Coral Homes - Hampton 26 - Tweed 20May 11, 2018 7:38 pm Hi Guys, Haven't posted since council approved our build but decided to jump on to share a few details on the progression so far as I found it helpful reading others "timelines" and I couldn't find any builds to follow that were the Hampton 26 by Coral. Start date- 29th March WEEK 1- Site scrap, plumbing, slab prep, builders fencing, port-a-loo, etc WEEK 2- Slab laid WEEK 3- Not a whole lot WEEK 4- Frame went up (bottom storey and top but no roof framing) WEEK 5- Roof framing to start the week, gutters and fascia followed WEEK 6- Roof tiles on top (not on garage roof yet), electrical rough in, aircon guys started something and bricks delivered I have been impressed with our site supervisor after what was a terrible experience with pre-site admin. Hopefully we continue in the right direction. This is us at the end of six weeks. Hoping for some brickwork to begin sometime towards the end of the week. Thanks mj-mac4 for the pic . And yes any builder… 2 13769 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4335 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 |
