We absolutely love it. Your design looks good but you have very little space to put furniture in your dining family room. We made our side windows a little smaller to fit a buffet. Praps think about putting a door on your laundry. We did this at the last minute. Looking forward to following your build. Im so nervous for prestart $$$ what did you upgrade? Re: NEW BUILD - HGWA SOUTHPORT 9Dec 21, 2017 1:44 pm Good luck with your build! I like that you'll have a bit of extra space down the side of your house - it's one thing that puts me off new builds - only being 1.5m from the fence down the sides! What's the tile and laminate meeting for? Is that with HGWA separate to pre-start? Re: NEW BUILD - HGWA SOUTHPORT 10Dec 21, 2017 2:38 pm nicolac34 Good luck with your build! Im so nervous for prestart $$$ what did you upgrade? We put most of the upgrades in our contract like hobless semi frameless showers, recesses, bulkheads, stacker doors, scullery sink. We put aside a 5K budget for electrical at prestart at spent about 3.5K and also put aside 5K for wood look tiles but they ended up costing 24K Other upgrades at prestart were things like a bulkhead above kitchen cabinets, carpet underlay, upgraded sinks/taps/showerheads, changing the manhole position, wood look garage door, scullery drawers instead of cupboards, tiled floor wastes, heat lamp and exhaust fan etc Re: NEW BUILD - HGWA SOUTHPORT 12Dec 21, 2017 10:52 pm We made a copy of our plan and electrical plan and made comments and drawings over a week prior to pre start of all the things we wanted to change. Certainly helped us and our prestart lady. It felt good to know that we hadn’t missed anything or forgotten to upgrade or change something on the day. We don’t have any connections to tilers and aren’t very handy ourselves so we just figured to bite the bullet and have HGWA do them. Plus they will be warranted through HG and if one tile is out of place I will be asking them to fix it. I feel like they’ll do a great job, where as another tiler might not Re: NEW BUILD - HGWA SOUTHPORT 16Dec 23, 2017 8:03 pm Nice design! seems to be a heap of HGWA threads on this site, so they must be doing something right! Curious about your decision to have a door to the rear hall from the Scullery? I feel like if you took that away you could do a pretty awesome fit-out in that area, as otherwise there's a bit of wasted space and it becomes a main thoroughfare, rather than the area where things are kept out of the way. I would also highly recommend putting a door on the Laundry. Just my 2 cents best of luck with your build! Love your plan but agree about the laundry door and the scullery door. Good luck I hope your build goes as quickly and easily as mine has. @Madora Dreamer Re: NEW BUILD - HGWA SOUTHPORT 20Jan 02, 2018 10:46 am just_a_draftee Nice design! seems to be a heap of HGWA threads on this site, so they must be doing something right! I was actually thinking the same thing with the scullery! we only left it this was as i thought easy access to my future children... but i think im going to take it out as it deffo is dead space and my brother inlaw is cabinet maker so he could fit it out for us after hand over.... i loved the display as the laundry was open but i think ill add a door on here also...
