Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 23, 2017 8:49 pm Hello. We have a 350m2 block. We need 4 bedrooms. At this stage, we have two options. 1: master bedroom on ground floor, second master bedroom + 2 additional bedrooms upstairs. Reduced open living space and backyard to accommodate. 2: master bedroom upstairs + 3 bedrooms upstairs. We have a young family so we would use the upstairs master. Incorporating a ground master is only for resale value. It's more important to us to have a better functioning open living area but are we putting ourselves at a disadvantage when we try to sell five or so years down the road by not having the ground master? Do we make do with less living space, is it an essential? Any advice is appreciated. Re: Master bedroom, floor plan advice 2Nov 23, 2017 11:10 pm At the last place we owned we had a master suite downstairs, with a second master upstairs, and we had no end of trouble in trying to sell it. Nobody could understand why there was a master downstairs when the other bedrooms were all upstairs. I say go with option 2 Re: Master bedroom, floor plan advice 3Nov 24, 2017 4:49 am I would definitely go with option two with just the master upstairs. The master downstairs is mostly only useful for couples who are elderly or having trouble with stairs due to an injury and that demographic is unlikely to need a four bedroom, double story. I think most people would enjoy the larger living space and backyard. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Hi guys, I'm planning on reorganizing my bedroom completely so any kind of advice will be helpful since i have zero knowledge about interior design, matching colors,… 0 3270 Thank you so much.
