Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 2Jun 26, 2016 8:19 pm Definitely go for Kevin from New Home Inspections. We've used another one but Kevin was far superior in that he deals with the builder on your behalf instead of having a report thrown over the fence and leaving it to you to negotiate it with the builder. Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 3Jun 27, 2016 12:08 pm Normally I would have recommended Kevin too, but he is no longer returning my calls. We have paid a lot of money to his company for his services. Last communication I had with him is to send several photo's through of slab rectification work for him to look at and say yes or no to them being fixed - 10 minutes work most likely and is part of his service. I've left at least 6 phone calls and emails and nothing back. The receptionist says "nothing i can do to make him call you". So be wary. I can only assume that when an inspection needs a little bit more work post-report then he deems it too hard. Better to take the easy money maybe. Problem there is if it's an easy report then there's few problems. When it's hard is when you need the inspector to do a great job. Without him returning my calls that my guess. Very disappointing! I'll try Darbecca instead. I've read good things about them previously. www.darbecca.com.au Vancouver 29-KDR Site start: 14 Feb Slab: 26 Feb Frame start: 2 Mar Frame finish: 27 May Lockup: 28 Jul <--finally! Edit: Kevin finally called me apologising profusely - just too busy at the moment. Considering the current building industry I'm not surprised. Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 7Sep 14, 2016 10:31 pm I do not suggest getting build contract reviewed. You will find builders are not willing to amend it at all. They want to keep it as standard as possible. Darbecca are very good at their job. Just call them and they will let you know what stages they recommend based on your house size and if its single or double storey. Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 8Sep 15, 2016 12:28 am We used Darbecca and were really impressed both with the quality of the reports and with the awesome customer service we got all the way through. We met two of their inspectors in person and they were very thorough & professional. Would highly recommend using them and as someone else said, they offer a discount for multiple inspections. It might seem an expensive exercise but it's really just a fraction of the entire build cost and 100% worth it to protect your investment. Totally agree, I have engaged them in my build and they just completed framing inspection. I am surprised how come the Surveyor (my builder recommended and use Arki) approved the slab levelling and framing showing breach of certain requirements throughout the build. Unless I don't understand the difference of inspection by Surveyor vs inspector. Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 10Nov 10, 2017 9:33 pm Hi There, Can anyone advise me a good building inspection agency ? Which one is better Darbecca or Newhomeinspection and obviously doesn't cost a fortune. TIA. Re: Building inspectors Melbourne 12Nov 17, 2017 8:39 pm Has anyone used Inspect east?
