Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aspire Designer Homes 21May 17, 2020 2:52 pm I take it that the garage is built on the boundary and your site was cut lower than the neighbouring site. Is this correct? If so, then weatherproofing was required as per Part 2.2 Damp and Weatherproofing in the National Construction Code Part 2. You can download the 3 Part NCC free of charge but make sure you download the publication year applicable to your build. Is there access to apply a weatherproofing product? 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Aspire Designer Homes 22May 17, 2020 3:03 pm Thanks for your reply yes that's right except there is a fence on the boundary and we have had similar recommendations from a plumber which includes what you have suggested and he has also recommended a drain as well. The fence can be removed to work on the outer side of the wall. We are hopeful this will improve the problem and that works can be done soon. Re: Aspire Designer Homes 23May 17, 2020 3:39 pm For whatever reason, the builder hasn't followed the regulations but it invariably comes down to a lack of QC which is endemic in the building industry. I hope that whoever tasks the problem can also lay a drain of some description but it has to drain somewhere of course. Good luck, I hope that the problem is solved. 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Aspire Designer Homes 24May 17, 2020 3:44 pm Thank you very much for your advice and we are hopeful that this will improve the situation at our property, it's been very stressful and we have lost 2 tenants out of it and down thousands. Re: Aspire Designer Homes 25May 17, 2020 5:20 pm Regarding your original question about taking consumer action against the builder, my advice is to concentrate on having the problem resolved and just move on if it is. Getting bogged down in action against a builder rarely ends well, particularly if they show that they have been proactive. It is most often a waste of time and energy best directed elsewhere. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper. Are you happy with your final build? Has there been any issues?
Were they ok to deal with along the way? Am thinking of signing on with them but there is not a lot of info out there about them! Thanks so much![/quote:1o9ggv53] Re: Aspire Designer Homes 28May 23, 2020 8:41 pm

Hi All!
I'm so sorry, I don't know why I'm not getting notifications of these replies?! Well, we're still not in. I will admit that a few weeks were due to contractors we've used in lieu of theirs (think flooring and cabinetry) holding up the build but for the most part almost nothing was done between October 2017 and June 2018. Our site manger is just the best - I have lost my $h1t at him a couple of times and he has taken it in his stride and calmed me right down. He has used the best trades on our house and the finish is top notch. He has told me what to and why - eg expansion joint in stairwell, we didn't use skirting as it would not have been as aesthetically pleasing, lol. Lost all faith in my sales guy after things that were discussed and recommendations weren't included or were just crap. Eg. Concrete bricks - don't ever use them, you'll end up with cracked mortar everywhere - even before you've finished building! I don't even want to talk to him now, I'm so angry with him. We're coming up to two years without a house however there is light at the end of the tunnel, we should, fingers crossed, be in this time next month! We have said March so as not to get our hopes up but who are we kidding, my hopes are so high it's a Feb handover that I'm will to put up one of my kids as the wager, lol! (...Obviously the cheeky one.) I started building at the same time as a friend who is using Latitude 37 and they won't be in until March so in terms of building the timeline matches with other builders - they're all just bloody slow - Mind you, she started the process eight months after me so they are easily a more efficient mob to deal with in the beginning. Looking forward to checking out the quality of her home when it's done. I can't complain about the work completed to date, just the time it's taken to do it Million dollar question... Would I build with them again?? Jury is still out on that one. I would engage my site manager independently in a heart beat. My advice if you are using them, stay on top of everything and call Gary (the owner) as many times as you need to in order to get things moving. He is fair, old and stern, but fair... Good luck with your builds, all! melissakate cupcake.girl kyashton78 @chrissy3783[/quote:1w15m5ew][/quote:1w15m5ew] He maybe all those things, but definitely NOT fair. Re: Aspire Designer Homes 29Nov 23, 2020 4:21 pm Oh, that is very useful and interesting to read though! I like all those design related topics because it’s about beautiful. Design is something really beautiful, like for everyone, I guess. Remember recently surfing through internet and found that good website about interior design and things like that. It was Hanging Mobile For Office. God, I was looking for those pictures for hours, it is weirdly satisfying to just look there and think about it and imagine having it in your office, house. For instance, you can actually buy everything there, but I don’t need it. I am more like a person to look and admire and then create myself. Your build is relatively simple, I believe your job can be easily done by a good building designer, you really do not need to pay for the architect.
