Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 102Feb 14, 2018 8:07 am It's suggested to keep the slab moist for the 3 days following the pour to help avoid potential cracking, however its not a requirement Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 103Feb 15, 2018 11:00 am Probably too late to do anything about it now. The independent inspector we have engaged is heading to site today to do the first inspection so will see what comes of that. Choosy inspired me to have a rethink over our kitchen, so I've sent off quite a few variations today. I'm quite sure my husband will have a heart attack as he kept telling me to leave it alone but if I know how much it will cost to change I think I'll rest easier! Main things were to make sure the semi-integrated dishwasher is actually going to fit - because looking at the niche it looks too big and they've not included the plinth across the bottom. Also putting in a microwave recess, some more drawers, changing the direction of the opening of some of the overhead cupboards, extra power points in the laundry and ensuite and the bermuda tile insert in the laundry. Probably not going to be able to afford to do any of that, but will see what they come back with! Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 104Feb 15, 2018 11:11 am Will no doubt hit you with a variation fee for those changes as it's so late now! But hope you get what you want! Microwave recess is a must Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 105Feb 15, 2018 11:27 am Oh yes no doubt - just hope it's one variation fee and not a fee per item changed! If that's the case it will be a total no-go. Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 106Feb 15, 2018 12:43 pm The problem is that the 2D drawings provided might be fine for those in the building industry however not so good for non-building people especially those that learn by doing, we dont all learn by reading or hearing. Wouldn't it be nice to see shaded or 3D illistrations given the technology that is available. We did our prestart and electrical meeting within 2 hours and at the end with 1hr up our sleeve I said to our PSC that I felt we missed something and guess what we did! Mistakes happen when building and NCH have been great in working with us to achieve what we had envisioned. Would totally agree with that, a 3D render of the kitchen and front facade of the house would make me feel so much better about what we'd chosen. When we designed our first kitchen with Ikea, she sat there with the program and dropped everything we wanted into place, shuffled things around, had a real think about how we would use the space - 3 hours alone spent on the kitchen. This kitchen design was done in about 5 minutes and I came away wondering if I had really considered everything and thought about how the space would work for us. I definitely think more time should be spent on the kitchen - it's a huge investment and not one you are going to want to rip out in a couple of years because it doesn't work properly, you'll have to live with it for a very long time! Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 108Feb 15, 2018 1:10 pm I actually mentioned that to a new gen sales consultant. She mentioned that Summit had a meeting to discuss what could they do to improve the process. I told her in this day & age i don't see why a 3D view of the house can't be done. It would help everyone so much more with choosing colours or visioning the space Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 109Feb 16, 2018 11:15 am Received our independent building inspection report this morning on the slab. One defect in the leveling of one of the bedrooms but can be rectified at a later date apparently. Our CL is off sick a the moment so just waiting for her to return to process the amendments and respond to the report. From the photo on the report looks like we've had delivery of the soakwells. Exactly who I’m usin. Funny how we both got the same possible issue Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 113Feb 18, 2018 8:07 pm Rosehill had a Community Event today, got to meet some neighbours! Really good when they do this kind of thing as we are in the first stage so it's good to know the community that will be moving in around you. We've never known our neighbours and is one of the reasons building like this appealed. If anyone reading is thinking of building in Rosehill PM me as we both get some cash with referrals Re: Aveling Build - Rosehill Waters 114Feb 27, 2018 5:13 pm Well this was a nice surprise - the brickies have started and we have some walls! Last update from the CL was early last week and we were told they'd be 'loading' the slab this week. Looks like they started today! Lucky i was able to just flip the frame around. Are you going to go ahead with the changes and cop the fees? I've asked them to justify the charges, could probably live without the end panel for the bar fridge, but do want them to install the dishwasher so it fits correctly. Thank you so much everyone.
