Hmm you mean Joles actually used the word alfresco?? Ooooer I gotta find that. Re: Jo's House: Update 18/3. 362Mar 24, 2009 7:10 pm Oh my god... kex, that means I am a gloogger! I love "vehicular lounge" so much I am going to drop it at the contract appintment..... with a straight face. HAHAHA!! Make sure you take a hidden camera - I want to see the expression on their faces! After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Jo's House: Update 18/3. 364Mar 26, 2009 6:58 am great blog jo, didn't realise you changed houses...what a great design! I am wishing PD was up here...they have some fabulous houses! I wish you the best in the next direction of your building journey...3rd time is a charm! P.S. I love the location of the powder room in your house...very envious! My next house its a must!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: Jo's House: Update 18/3. 365Mar 26, 2009 7:06 am Funny you mentioned the powder room Kylie.... that and the laundry was the clincher. The powder room is truly central to the whole house. As you know, we'd been looking at adding powder rooms to other designs. And we'd also added troughs to the garage in other houses. With the laundry right there.. no need. No extra toilet, no extra basin, no extra trough.... that's a whole lot of plumbing and fixtures that didn't need to be added and it added up to quite a few grand saving. They do enjoy stinging us for extras. It's also the size of the powder room. My brother, who will live there, is very ill so the size of the powder room gives him lots of manouvrability as his mobility lessens. Strange the things that sell me on a house! As for PD being up there... I look at links to builders from interstate (including Queensland) with envy all the time! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Jo's House: Update 18/3. 366Mar 26, 2009 7:30 pm Sounds like this house will be very practical for your needs Joles...its funny how we spend time trying to squeeze our ideas into houses and then we actually find something that needs very little tweaking One of lifes mysteries I think your story highlights how society is changing and the whole definition of 'household' I look forward to watching your build and I can't wait to see how your colours come together Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: Jo's House: Update 18/3. 367Mar 26, 2009 8:20 pm Now that I've stopped laughing at you telling it how it is on your blog, just wanted to say congrats on deciding on a plan and builder. I'm looking forward to hearing how it all comes together and your opinon on it all. Love it! Hope its all a lot smoother for you from here on. Terrence Malick You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane. Raising the concrete would… 1 7034 How good is Simeon?! Always taking time to help others out! Wish we were building in NSW and could work together. Thanks for all that you do! 7 6576 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6891 |
