I would not be ok with that I would demand they fix it. There was a design flaw with the wall of our vanity in our ensuite and our carpenter called our SS and together they redesigned and rebuild the wall. It was a different issue but they identified the flaw and did something about it. I wouldn't accept it like that at all. Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 5Oct 23, 2017 2:32 pm Totally agree. I paid to split my slab which included the cost of higher ceilings to the rear and alfresco and the idiot draftsman ran a big beam up the guts of the alfresco ceiling which means I either had to have a large bulkhead or drop the entire ceiling. We also had plumbing issues where they didn't think we could have wall hung cabinets. This was discovered in construction phase and the plumbers were left to figure it out! Coral Homes in my experience have been totally incompetent every step of the way. I'm sorry you're going through this. Could you run a tiled step the full width of the wall to look like a feature? I'm y opinion they should do whatever it takes now to ensure you're happy with how it looks, regardless of cost M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 6Oct 24, 2017 3:23 pm Update : We emailed our ss and BSO last night giving them three options: 1/ R.I.P. our the wall and re do it 2/ give us a better vanity which sits lower but has a raised basin . This means the vanity sits lower to the floor and sort of makes it less obvious . 3/ add an extra bank of draws to make the vanity sit lower , again reducing the view of the box . They said no to all three. Our only option was a plasterboard box to our choice of size , painter in a gloss paint and not tiled . This is beyond ridiculous . I spoke to the bso who was useless but at least escalated our complaint to her supervisor . The ss’s supervisor will now speak to us but we have been told he is the one who gave us our one option already anyway . I’m beyond livid and think this company is useless . Their customer service is putrid . They have offered the cheapest and easiest fix for coral , but one which is the ugliest and most visually unappealing one for us , the customer . I am so angry that through a huge fault of their own , our bathrooms are now not of the same finish as every other person who is building a coral house is getting for their money . I am tempted to raise a dispute with the qbcc now . I am also hesitant to release any further funds from the bank until a solution is reached to our satisfaction . Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 7Oct 24, 2017 3:31 pm Are you in NSW? I've learned you need to escalate things yourself. Is there anyway that the mistake is on your plans engineered plans because if it's correct there then maybe someone has actually made the mistake at the time of construction and it's not actually a flaw. Ask them to explain to you how the mistake was made. Sorry you have probably already asked these questions but from my experience I don't have a lot of trust for the people sitting in head office. Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 11Oct 24, 2017 5:36 pm No don't be sorry at all! We had that thought today too, that they made the excuse of using the structural beam as the reason why it happened . I feel as though its a bit suspicious that two bathrooms on opposite ends and sides of the house in different orientations ( if that makes sense) would both have the same beam issue affecting placement of the piping. I truly think that it was a mistake when the frame when up ( the first lot of carpenters were fired on the spot because of a huge issue with the neighbours - they screamed racist filth at our neighbour after she asked them not to block her driveway as she was trapped inside her house, and also because they had poor workmanship and when my hubby pointed out many issues at frame stage the ss said e was unhappy with the standard of their work ) and / or that the plumber was lazy because of the joists being in the way and chose the easy option. We really need to clarify exactly what the cause is, although their line so far has been the new design and unforeseen issues in design consistently. But surely a major building company would ensure the plumbing works with the framework of the house they're designing and selling on mass ??? It is mind boggling that they wouldn't! I will ask them to clarify .. again . Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 12Oct 25, 2017 9:03 am **update** We emailed the qld construction manager and cc’d both the site supervisor, our building services officer and site supervisors supervisor into the email . It was a very firmly worded email outlining everything and reiterating that we are not happy with the one and only option provided to us ( box and paint ). This morning the site supervisors supervisor ( who did not answer five calls yesterday ) called hubby and said that the best option was the box and tiled over . We again said that would not suffice . He wasn’t too friendly and pushed us to agree . We suggested an extra bank of drawers under the vanity to make the vanity Sit closer the the ground so From most angles the box is kind of obstructed from view . He said no and then said if they did that we had to pay half the cost of labor and for the vanity . We said no ! Hubby then said that as it’s obvious that coral are not budging and Neithe Would we since it is a issue i th their flawed design , that we had no hesitation to today commence an early dispute resolution claim through the QBCC. He immediately changed his tone and said that we didn’t Need to go down that Route and that he would tomorrow to site and see it for himself. Hubby told him he has till tomorrow afternoon at 3.30 To get back to us otherwise we will be contacting the QBCC to commence a claim . So we will see what comes of it. Pretty sure they won’t change . But I’m Also confident they don’t have a leg to stand on , on many counts - 1/ if it is a flaw in design then it Is unreasonable to expect us to still pay for the finish They have advertised 2/ since They knew about the issue way back When the frame and plumbing went in then had they told us , they could have intervened earlier and made a wider cavity wall against the back wall to house he pipe. I’m so peeved. We are In no hurry to move- The house we Will in is almost mortgage free and we aren’t under financial pressure to move and sell So We are happy For Them to take the time Allowed for in contract ( mid feb ) and fix it properly . Stupid idiots . Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 13Oct 25, 2017 12:25 pm Question? The house has been build for a display somewhere which doesn’t have th pipes sticking out hand it? If that’s the case, how can this be “unforeseen” becuase they already had to fix it. Also, if a design flaw means that your elevations don’t show the issue, that’s is definately not your fault. Does you elevations show it being clear under the vanity? Re: Coral homes alto plumbing issue 16Oct 25, 2017 1:09 pm bananarama Question?
