Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 18, 2017 5:31 pm Hi guys just wondering form everyone's experience,we are about 9 1/2 weeks away form contract date and we are still not at lock up. Gyprock has been completed but no external doors on porch, balcony and out door living spaces not completed. can this be completed in time? We have had so many issues from the get go the biggest is that technically house didn't fit on the block without further engineering of the slab required which they tried to blame us for. Been a pretty emotional 12 months dealing with them biggest regret of my life. we are renting and lease ends in December we are just so worried that we won't have anywhere to live. Coral homes Bahama 37 2Oct 18, 2017 7:25 pm Hi Ryan, I am very sorry to hear that you've also found yourself on the receiving end of cr@p from Coral Homes. You're absolutely not alone. There are many of us currently going through the same rubbish. Have a look at my thread! Our home was under construction for 12 months minus one day. It was horrendous. From site works- it was a dreadful experience. They almost poured our Slab on a house pad that was 700mm too high, which would have put the house 680mm above council limits. I had to smash my head against a wall for a week trying to get anyone at Coral to believe me that it was wrong. I saved them in the vicinity of $70k! The night before slab pour it was discovered that my modified plans weren't certified - they had to do emergency approval so my slab pour could go ahead. Again I was banging on to them about that for weeks and no one would listen. The build was no better- I was onsite literally every afternoon to the point where the ss welcomed Me and even asked me to keep on top of checking that things were being built to plan! I won't bore you with the rest, other than to say we are 10 months post handover and I'm about to have my Sixth and seventh week off work awaiting Coral's rectification of a list of defects that they have had 5 weeks already to fix. I'm about to start legal proceedings. The sad part is that no one there cares. My case was only escalated to the National Construction Mgr because I found his name on Linked in and emailed him!!! If they move their bums for you and you have no more delays it is possible to get in- but looking at the date you won't be in until after Xmas if they take the full contract time as Xmas shut down is excluded. They delete all negative posts from Facebook and Instagram and even blocked me on Facebook so I can't comment!! I suppose you are ahead of us in the timeline. We got gyprock in the week after our contract expired and only got to lock up last week. Understanding your pain and frustration so well unfortunately. Keep on their backs... it's all you can do! They did how ever try to blame hunter water although that didn't work. Well for our amended plans work commenced before even being certified they were certified in August yet our house was well underway at this point and I have dates of photos to prove it. I think they were possibly not going to even bother getting them certified it was only because I kept asking for a copy for over 2 months. We have built before so we were aware of things that can go wrong etc but boy this has got to be the worst experience yet. So we are building in NSW on the coast. I really hope you guys get everything sorted with your builds inhonestly feel your pain. Re: Coral homes Bahama 37 6Oct 19, 2017 8:35 pm Makes you question why they charge customers for surveying the block. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 7216 Ask for references and speak to them.
