Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Home Security 3Oct 13, 2017 11:18 am If you want to have a hard-wired security system then it is done during construction because of the wiring being installed and if you would like to go for wireless home security systems, they can be done after completion also. Hard wired are generally cheaper than the wireless one but with hard-wired you need to make sure they are installed by professional only not by electrician as the placement of detectors matter to avoid the false alarms Re: Home Security 4Oct 15, 2017 5:27 pm chrisbon If you want to have a hard-wired security system then it is done during construction because of the wiring being installed and if you would like to go for wireless home security systems, they can be done after completion also. Will Consider while construction only. Would you recommend any private Home security installer.? Re: Home Security 5Oct 16, 2017 5:19 am I have recently installed Netgear Arlo Pro four camera system at my home in Melbourne and my cottage in Tasmania and could nort be more impressed. (4 camera system $1400) It comes with a base station that plugs into your modem and the cameras are completely wireless. Cameras have rechargeable in built lithium batteries and the set up is a breeze as is mounting of the cameras (screw the round base to the wall and the camera is held by a magnet) You get alarm function, smart phone alertes, 2 way voice and it has night vision. I can tell when wallabies visit my cottage at night. You get 5 channel live feed so you can have all five camera watching live at once on your phone Before installing Arlo Pro I was completely blind. Now if I am In Melbourne (or anywhere) I can check live, on the weather, wind, tide or anything else around my cottage(if anyone is snooping) in real time. I didn't want to get into lock-in contract so paid upfront without being into the contracts. I got 2 sensors, 2 detectors, 2 remotes Re: Home Security 7Oct 16, 2017 10:06 am building-expert I have recently installed Netgear Arlo Pro four camera system at my home in Melbourne and my cottage in Tasmania and could nort be more impressed. (4 camera system $1400) How have you secured your camera's from theft? That was my biggest concern (other than replacing battery charge) with the Arlo setup. Re: Home Security 8Oct 16, 2017 10:29 am You can buy screw on mounts separately But in my case only the height of installation, by the time someone gets to it I will have recorded footage either from that camera or from another nearby. I have 2 systems 1 alert system Arlo Pro 4 cameras 2 Loop recording system Hicks 8 cameras HD continuous recording to 2 TB disk Anyone on the property will be in the crossfire before they can interfere with any of the cameras The cameras are small and unobtrusive and you can buy black or camouflage skins separately 3 for $49 Very neat, I think miles ahead of other offerings.
