Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our First Dream Home Wk 12 Carpenter Fix Out&Window Fix 242Apr 19, 2018 9:06 am We've gone for grey floor tiles, timber cabinets and white bench tops and walls in our bathroom. Its a great look and I dont think youd be disappointed. Re: Our First Dream Home Wk 12 Carpenter Fix Out&Window Fix 243Apr 20, 2018 10:10 pm Your choice looks great, sparrow! I would have chosen the same!! Tribe do you know how much to lay the penny rounds? I think they come in sheets and I think it would cost a fair bit but I have no idea. I did read all of your suggestions a couple of days ago but didn’t get time to finish my reply. I decided on these ones. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I liked them the best and most people seemed to agree. But I got a call from the builder saying he and the selections lady were concerned I had too many hero pieces and it might look too busy so he was putting a hold on the tiles to give me a bit of extra time to sleep on it and think about it. He said he’s happy to do whatever I say but just wants to make sure I will be happy with the end results. I’m both glad and mad as is a woman’s right lol. I’m glad that he cares enough and is willing to be honest and not just take the easy way. But I’m mad because I’ve agonised over the selections and reselections and now I don’t feel like I have the confidence to know what looks good and how to go forward. He said that using Pinterest can sometimes cause a disjointed look because you have too many things that look great stand alone but not good as a whole and to visit some display homes. Well this morning Miss 17 months and I hit 30 display homes. There wasn’t really one bathroom I love loved. I did see some amazing artworks though . Tomorrow I’m dragging all the kids and Mr Sparrow to another display village. They’re going to be thrilled. Good things have happened on site though. The window has been moved and the cabinetry was nearly finished being installed this afternoon. I forgot to take a picture of the study nook and butlers pantry so I’ll have to remember to do that next time. It reminds me of when I told our colour consultant that I wanted my eaves painted Basalt - she was reluctant and advised against it, but I stuck with my decision and it’s one of the things I really love about our house now. I do love your eaves Bridget. That’s a great example. Re: Our First Dream Home Wk 13 Stone Measure&Hopefully Insta 250Apr 21, 2018 8:53 pm Gosh tiles are just the hardest to get right IMO. There are so many options out there and as much as I love trawling Pinterest myself and looking at display homes, it can be overwhelming!! I hope by visiting more displays tomorrow you get some clarity. You have great taste so I'm sure it will be lovely no matter what you pick Re: Our First Dream Home Wk 13 Stone Measure&Hopefully Insta 251Apr 23, 2018 12:40 am Dani_J Gosh tiles are just the hardest to get right IMO. From the displays I learn that I actually like busy bathrooms better than the ‘generic’ everyday. So now I’m thinking of going with a Carrara on the floor a matte white subway on the wall and the herringbone. It’s no less busy but it’s not as dark on the floor. I’m going to have a bit more of a think about it over the next couple of days and see how I feel then. Here’s some inspo from a display I went to on the weekend. This is a new Granview Home done in Hamptons style. Sounds similar I think to what your thinking. Busy bathrooms are stunning with the right combinations, a light floor, a stand out feature like your black cabinet and a pattern on the wall makes perfect sense. I love the herringbone lay pattern, we will be having chevron in our laundry this time . Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I had a similar idea with our ensuite and used carrara floor tiles and charcoal herringbone tiling laid through the niche. You could have one whole wall herring bone and the other 3 walls something else maybe the carrara? Or a white wall tile but it needs to be the same size as the floor tile because your pattern is the feature and you don’t want mismatch lines. Good luck with the choices Our First Dream Home Wk 13 Stone Measure&Hopefully Install 254Apr 23, 2018 6:21 pm Oh I love love love that bathroom Dani. Thank you for the advice and suggestions Tribe. Finally locked our tiles in. We weren’t tiling to the roof due to budget constraints but all of the ideas I had for the walls like herringbone and Carrara would have looked a bit silly to me having the mismatched standard heights. So we bit the bullet and upgraded the tiling to the ceiling. We’ve gone with a ‘sharp’? Carrara wall tile and the stream grey floor tile. They are back on deck now and have hung the doors and fit the architraves.
