But I don’t want to regret it. When I was checking the house out this morning our site supervisor was there and he was so friendly and helpful. But he let me know that our windows have been delayed. I feel bad because we changed our windows to GJames to get a better quality window and double hung system and now they haven’t delivered on time. They were supposed to be deliver yesterday and now they won’t be there until Tuesday. He assured me that the schedule will remain unchanged and they will just work around it. I met with the cabinetmaker today and locked all of my selections in. Decided to get them to do a study nook as well and change my pantry and laundry to the same upgraded stone as the rest of the house. Alpine white. Ouch for the wallet but I think I am going to be so much happier with the end look. This is my study nook inspiration. I agree about the pendant lights it better to have what you really want than settling. The stair railing in our other build really bugged me, it wasn’t much to upgrade the posts but I didn’t and god it annoyed me. Check out these pendants https://www.millyandeugene.com.au/collections/lighting I got busy and here is a list of really helpful interior links Blending styles https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/tips-f ... son-201331 Furniture placement https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/furnit ... les-254510 Vogue Autumn suggestions https://www.vogue.com.au/vogue-living/i ... 0872?pos=1 See if any of those are helpful Re: Our First Dream Home Week 6 More Roof, Wrap, Windows? - 144Mar 01, 2018 6:53 pm I love your selections so far! I agree with Tribe though, go for what you really want or it may annoy you forever haha. I don't think there's anything wrong with "sameness" especially if you can see both from one place, and having them different sizes mixes it up a bit the same as texture/colour can. I gotta say though, the copper and timber umbrella pendants in tribes link are kinda halfway between your old pendants and the new one! Re: Our First Dream Home Week 6 More Roof, Wrap, Windows? - 145Mar 01, 2018 8:59 pm Thanks guys. Thank you for the links Tribe. I’ll be reading them all tonight. That’s how I thought about my laundry being laminate; I think it would have annoyed me every time I saw the exposed join where the washing machine was. My husband didn’t want to continue the bench in case he wants a top loader one day and I feared I might see the end join looking from my kitchen everyday and regret it. I’m glad I’ve changed it to the stone. We went out to the house to measure up for the pendant lights and now I have a new dilemma. If the lights are similar do the kitchen and dining ones need to be symmetrical or line up with each other. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our kitchen has cabinetry only on one side so the island isn’t centred in the room but I was thinking I would centre the dining table but then my dining pendant is not going to be centred to the other pendants or line up with them. Will that be noticeable? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our First Dream Home Week 6 More Roof, Wrap, Windows? - G&P 146Mar 01, 2018 9:05 pm And dilemma two 🤣. I just realised I asked for power points at each end of my island bench but now I have waterfall ends and I think the PowerPoints will ruin the look of the waterfall ends. Where does everyone put their island bench power points? Re: Our First Dream Home Week 6 More Roof, Wrap, Windows? - 147Mar 01, 2018 10:46 pm In my opinion the way you've got it is better. I think if your dining table is in the middle of the room that will draw more focus than the fact that the dining pendant doesn't line up with the kitchen pendants. I don't think it will be noticeable or odd at all. Just my 2c. We met the electrician, plumber and data guys onsite this morning to go through everything and make sure it was all right. I asked the electrician to put my pendants in for cash and I added a couple of power points I was shocked at the price. It seemed like it cost the same or more than just going through the builder I had to leave in a hurry to get the kids so my husband got the final price after I had left. I think maybe we should have asked for an itemised list but it’s done now and he would have already done the work today so I don’t want to try and renegotiate prices and create any problems. He did say pendants are very fiddly because they have to line up so perfectly and so cost more for the time it takes. I just wasn’t expecting that much more . In saying that I did want allot of stuff and all the little bits do add up really quickly. We are going on Wednesday to install our internal wall insulation. I am feeling under prepared. I haven’t really fully researched which batts to get and I haven’t ordered them. I did ask bunnings if they think they would have enough for a whole house in stock and they said yes so it should be fine 🤣. Windows should arrive tomorrow finally. I can’t wait to see my stacker door it has always been my must have item and is one of my favourite features. I can’t wait to open up the whole living area to the alfresco and the amazing breezes. We also got this little baby on Friday and MrSparrow is in love with it. He seems to think it is more go cart than mower though Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I ended up going with the island bench pendants the same as the dining but smaller. I have way over spent now on pendants and getting them installed. I kind of regret it but what’s done is done. I will love them but I hope I don’t have to sacrifice something else in the next few weeks because of them. Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrical, D 149Mar 05, 2018 8:50 pm We also ran into the certifier doing the frame inspection when we were out there on Friday and he could not speak more highly of G&P and said he would chose them to build his home. They consistently have great frames and slabs. I’m very happy that we chose a builder that uses the old school methods on raft slabs and building the frames on site. Re: Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrica 151Mar 05, 2018 9:14 pm alymei Thats awesome feedback about the builder, Im considering them now too Thanks for following . How exciting! Have you been out to their display homes? Do you have land? I planned for this to be our 10-20 year home but I have really been enjoying the experience so far, I might have caught the bug. I highly recommend talking to Corey at the Karalee display or talking to Mike one of the owners directly on info@gpbuilders.com.au, feel free to let him know Teneika Sparrow recommended him. They have been great to us and I don’t think I’ve met anybody with a bad thing to say. All builds have hiccups but Mike has always been right onto it. Good luck with everything I look forward to following your build. Re: Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrica 152Mar 05, 2018 9:22 pm That’s great SN - your home looks like a gem gleaming in the sun! My hubby was less than impressed with our waffle pod slab and skinny frames, so your builder sounds great. Electrical is pricey, but at least your sparky agreed to do the work for you - ours basically said we have to go through the company he sub contracts for. Think we will just find someone post handover. And love your go-cart... um, I mean mower! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrical, D 153Mar 05, 2018 9:23 pm Great choice with the pendants SN, having them the same doesn’t mean it’s boring it means you can pair them with different items on your dining table and kitchen bench to create very different looks. Damn about the electrician being so expensive. Hind sight is it’s all sorted out now and you can think about something else . The cladding looks awesome I do love it, adds really lovely character. Awesome rap for your builder, it’s reassuring when they go the extra mile and are helpful and produce good work. Wooo hooo check out your zero turn, how much fun are they. Mr T brought his when we moved out here and loves it, he would mow twice a week if he had the time . We brought a new car today to tow the trailer etc and I honestly think Mr T has died and gone to heaven Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrical, D 154Mar 05, 2018 9:37 pm That sucks about the electrician Bridgetwitch. I was a bit worried about our electrician doing the same because I had already bought all the pendants and took them in my boot to site this morning 🤣. I did quite a bit of reading about the different slab types and most agree that waffle pods can better in some instances. I’m sure your house is going to be amazing Thanks Tribe, I love the cladding too. I feel like I met with allot of weird looks from people when I told them I was having an all “weatherboard” house. Even hubby took a while to get on board. We over capitalised a bit on the mower considering we only have an acre but Mr Sparrow does really love it. It was actually my pick I bought it while hubby was at work and drove it home on the trailer myself! Mr Sparrow mowed on Sunday and asked me just now when my next day off was because he “needs” to mow again. I’ve created a monster lol. It’s so handy having a tow bar, you and Mr Tribe will love it. I was surprised how much went into it before going to council when is when the land needs to be settled by. Although ours was custom so most of our admin was just getting our plans rights. I really want to go a custom house this time, and am quite anal about what I want hehe, so atm my three runners are g&p, gj Ipswich, and pantha (who we built with first time around) Re: Our First Dream Home Week 7 Cladding, Windows, Electrica 158Mar 07, 2018 10:00 am What's the rules with G&P when it comes to modifying a plan from another builder? For example, if we liked a plan from Plantation but wanted to tweak it, would G&P do that? Our plan was custom that I had designed myself but yes I believe any builder can build another builders plan as long as it is changed by 10% or more as this gets around the copyright issue. That’s just what I have heard though so maybe send a quick email through to Mike from G&P on info@gpbuilders.com.au and double check with him Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13483 1 7926 A quick update, we didn't have site start before Easter.
