Hello again.
I recently posted about our builder forgetting our fireplace was to be face brick and constructing it from internal bricks ready for plaster.
After mentioning this oversight to the builder are fixing it up ASAP but I had an idea that I wanted to run past the forum readers.
We are using Midland Brick "Restoration Red" for the face brick and Austral "Graphite" with white mortar as a feature for the front of the porch.
As there are some of the black Graphite bricks left behind we were wondering how it might look to incorporate them at random places into the fireplace with the Restoration Red bricks (with white mortar).
We were worried with the uniformity of the Graphite bricks they may stand out a little too much as the Restoration Red bricks are quite graduated with their colouring. I've cobbled together a very rough approximation of what it might look like below (standard cream mortar and not the white that we would like).
Hoping for any suggestions or comments, especially from anyone who might have also tried something similar and the results.
