Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 09, 2017 7:29 pm Hi guys I'm a new member and this is my first post and hopefully one of many. Building my first home and nearing practical completion. Now that I can see a lot of the fittings, I have noticed many things I'm not happy with. Most recently, it's been the lighting. A lot of them are either not straight, level or centered properly. Supervisor has an excuse for everything like there is framework in the way or "we can't move that over because of such and such"..I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean. I'm now thinking do I use an independent inspector or try and spot all blemishes and defects myself at handover and bring it to the attention of the owners. I noticed building company owners are quick to reply when you make a complaint on the productreview website to keep their reputation so this will be another option. Would appreciate any help and thanks in advance J Re: independent home inspector 3Oct 09, 2017 7:48 pm jay m Hi guys I'm a new member and this is my first post and hopefully one of many. If you are based in Victoria we highly recommend Darbecca. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: independent home inspector 4Oct 09, 2017 7:57 pm PVBuild Private inspector and don't pay final amount until defects are rectified. It's a bit of a pity to only do it now, I wonder what some of the structural stuff that you can't see is like. Thanks PVBUILD Advice noted. I live close to the site, visit at least once a week, and got to see everything from the ground up. But I'm not a builder and have little knowledge in the industry so like you say, you don't know what the structural material they use is like. I think the builders have their own certifiers and inspectors that check and approve every stage of the build which is a bit more reassuring. I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2264 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 81884 It is true that a builder can ignore your independent inspection report as it is not part of the contractual arrangement but that is stupid because he cannot avoid fixing… 9 46854 |
