Created this topic so we can share ideas and experiences in the process of building a house especially those who bought a land in Rathdwone in Wollert, Victoria. Would love to meet future neighbours here as I am very excited with the process.
We secured the land in April 2017, part of the Water Edge Lavelle Release. We decided on a thursday to buy in Rathdowne and because we still live in Sydney so we have to drive almost 9 hours to Melbourne on a friday since their release was a saturday (what a tiring weekend it was ..) There is no online registration to secure a land in Rathdowne so we need to personally be there and flying is not an option as it's very expensive at that time.
Eventhough we are 9th on the line, we still got the land that we want. In June, we received a letter that title date is not until September 2018 (originally was April 2018). We don't mind though as we are still living in Sydney. =)
Anyway, we will go with Metricon. Anybody here going with Metricon as well? Their SC said Wollert is a rocky area and it may be in our best interest to fix the site cost. Is someone making their site cost fixed? Is it advisable?
It's our 1st time to build and I hope to that I can share more about our experience here, especially when we start building the house. I do apologise in advance for the heaps of questions as we go along with this journey.
