In our contract 'stormwater' is to be done by owner. So why do I think they have ripped us off...because they have built in the same estate, they have at least 5 houses they are building, so knew exactly what had to be submitted to council, but they waited until final contracts were signed, plans sent in to council, then let us know. So basically the $150 is a variation fee, something that could have been sorted out at our pre-start meeting. Re: stormwater plan 10Aug 28, 2008 12:21 pm hi,
150 is a bargain, ours cost 480 for an engineer to draw plans for our surface stormwater. Just hope your 150 doesn't turn into thousands of dollars as you may have to do extra piping and plumbing for the stormwater. Dont get too dispondant about this $150 dollars, in the scheme of things its a very small drop in the ocean. Its when the variation figures get into 4 and 5 figures that you should start getting your boxing gloves on. Quote-'In our contract 'stormwater' is to be done by owner' Lastly, stormwater layouts is something very basic that should have been put on your site plan, prior to council submission, it is standard practice. Conclusion-Read your contract very carefully, there may be other surprises in there your not aware of. Pat the draftie. Re: stormwater plan 12Aug 29, 2008 5:23 pm Even if the stormwater was 'to be done by owner', the layout & discharge should have been included on the submitted drawings. The builder would know this or at least who ever drew up the plans would.
$150 for 15 to 30 minutes on cad - not bad money. Peter Clarkson - AusDesign Australia www.ausdesign.com.au This information is intended to provide general information only. Then you'll know. 3 8558 in the stormwater pit or the drain? Those dont look like theyd fit in the drain. Separately, the pits do get stuff in them during the course of the build.
