Browse Forums Building A New House Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 21Dec 14, 2017 7:16 pm Yeah I haven't been given any dates, but told myself end of Feb too. I'm in the same boat, have to do painting, flooring, blinds and driveway after handover. If my house was at your stage I would be happy for lockup at this time of the year. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 24Dec 15, 2017 4:29 pm Had one last walk through last night before the 2 x externals doors go in and lock me out. All the internal doors delivered and stacked in the theatre. Found 1 little issue in the front bedroom that the Plasterer had covered over one of my power points. Dropped in this morning on way to work to alert him and he fixed it up while I was there so all good Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 25Dec 16, 2017 5:59 pm Thats not good, maybe he should be taking a break whilst the office is closed. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 27Dec 18, 2017 7:22 pm We live in the same area as our new house, very easy for us to do daily checks and take the dog for a walk. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 28Jan 04, 2018 1:37 pm During the Xmas slowdown have been planning out the other work I need done after handover. If anyone got any sweet deals in Perth for the following I'd be happy to get some recommendations! Blinds Window Tinting (Front Bedroom for privacy/heat as it faces West) Alarm Security Front Door (Have a crimsafe quote from Westral) Concrete for Shed Slab Composite Decking Timber Also any feedback from those that have had front landscaping included - do you get much for your money? We have 5k to go towards a 'waterwise' front yard. You can order massive lots of samples for free and all you do is measure up your windows as it says and they cut it to size. Fairly easy to install also and you save a crap ton of money by purchasing online. Worth a look. 5k is a decent amount for the front landscaping depending on what you want. My parents also had their alarm installed by RAC and were very happy with it. Blinds and window treatments we are using a company called Coolico. They are a family run business based in Bibra Lake and installed all the blinds/curtains in our old house we renovated - couldn't fault the products and customer service was excellent. They've given us a great price on blinds and curtains for the new place. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 32Jan 05, 2018 5:34 pm I've looked into blinds online and have worked out I can do the whole house with single roller blinds for 2.4k which we are pretty happy with! Cabinets were getting unloaded this morning when i went past on my way to work. Yep just_a_draftee my blinds look to come in about 2k from there Vs first retail quote of 6k....unbelievable difference hey! The Blinds is the big unknown budget item for me which then has a domino effect on my budget for landscaping Thanks Nicolac I used RAC last time so need to get another quote from them, have a quote from the Installers that I have seen all over Facebook that seems reasonable for similar to what I had last time. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 34Jan 12, 2018 7:36 pm I've ordered my blinds from DIY Online Blinds and the prices seemed good, plus heaps of fabric options and they send out the samples super quick. I noticed that the fabric range is used by ABC Blinds too. My blinds haven't arrived yet, so I can't provide a quality recommendation yet, but seems good so far! End of Feb isn't that far away now Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 37Jan 18, 2018 12:28 am Making good progress to the finish line. Looking forward to seeing more photos after tiling is complete. Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 38Jan 18, 2018 8:52 am You've been told end of Feb too?! I'm well ahead of both the people I've seen being told told that yet I'm being told end of Feb too I want it now! Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 39Jan 18, 2018 10:47 am Our SS said he'd reckon we'll have our first inspection "last week of Feb". I think what chews up a bit of time on ours is 2 week wait on stone after kitchen went in, then once stone is in glass splash back measured and 2 week wait for that. Wife is excited to see the splashback and cooktop go in, went for the smoked mirror look and black glass cooktop The tiling I've been told will be done by end of next week but funnily enough after they were there for tiling meeting yesterday at 7.30, they left without starting anything, and when I drove past this morning they weren't there. On a positive the rendering guys were setting up so should have a bit of colour on the front soon! Re: 1st Build - New Choice Homes 40Jan 18, 2018 10:55 am That's exciting! Smoked mirror splashback will look amazing, however have fun keeping that clean!
