So I applied online and the application was $160, I received the approval notice and a attachment stating I have to pay the following amounts before they will install the meter Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A further $775, plus I've already paid $160 for the application so my stupid water meter has cost $935 grrrrrrrrrrr. I really don't like unexpected costs Ouch.. that is madness. Not sure how we lucked out because we didn't have a water meter on our block when we bought it (coz it is a subdivided lot)... and ours only turned out to be ~200$ each for sewer and water. That said, councils always find other ways to make up their fees. Also I think our builders applies for the water meter according to our contract so that cost is absorbed into our total (I'm sure there is some random application fee...) You did get very lucky with yours Rural, $400 is a great price. I wish the council looked after it but the Scenic Rim Council out sourced there water to Urban Utilities get this I pay $160 a quarter to urban utilities for vacant land water connections, naturally I questioned it with such a huge water meter price and they said the $160 a quarter is for the privilege of having mains water to my empty water meter box that I can't even use turds! Re: Bold Living + Us + South East Queensland = Housing the T 83Oct 08, 2017 8:46 pm ABuild Ouch!! Unexpected fees can hurt. I believe we had a similar issue when we connected our water meter. And if we didn't do it that day and pay the $780 they were upping the fees at it was the 1st of July last year. Also as it was a rural block they wanted to charge another $700 to put the concrete around the meter. Don't even get me started on councils I was really annoyed at the price to be honest. Holy cow your council is greedy too !! $1480 for a meter with a bit of bloody concrete, who would of thought it could be so expensive? Are you packed up and ready to move?? Hello my lovely, Hehehehe oh yeah there is always a way to get new cushions. I'll finish sewing the rest next week, I have 10 tule petticoats to make for school concert this week and I just finished 24 prep costumes last week. I'm going to the Goldie today so the sewing can get lost Don't even talk to me about Westpac at the moment, we lodged our application almost 3 weeks ago and my lending specialist is useless, I called her Monday to ask what the hell is going on? It's a straight for application with no mortgage insurance what is happening?? She called me back the following day to say they had sent the build contract to the valuer which was approved but they forgot to send the shed and pool quote so they have to do the valuation all over again. I called yesterday and the valuations are done they are just waiting for the final tick to go unconditional. I'm really unimpressed it's taken so long for such a simple application and they failed to even get the valuation done properly, I did remind the bank one of there soul tasks as a bank is to lend money!! My plants are up the back thriving, I've planted lots of other things which have taken off too, can't wait to see you get gardening. Oh wow 9 days to go it's coming around so fast I'm super excited for you Re: Bold Living + Us + South East Queensland = Housing the T 96Oct 14, 2017 9:45 am Tribe7 ABuild Your cushions are gorgeous and what a good way to get around hubby by recycling old ones Any news back from mortgage broker and when dirt will move!! They probably all are but my beef is with westpac Re: Bold Living + Us + South East Queensland = Housing the T 97Oct 14, 2017 1:13 pm Ditto.. all banks seem to be the same... especially when you are on a deadline! We were waiting on finance approval to settle on our land. Delay after delay from the banks and the sellers "nearly" pulled the contract because we kept on asking for more time with finance! Our mortgage broker was financing through Westpac as well.... hmm coincidence!? We are thinking of changing lenders as soon as our house is built to get a better rate. Only went with RAMS because they packaged the whole loan as a new house build - which meant less monetary headache at the time. No we don’t have a box or anything. I’ve been told to expect $1400 so I hope it’s closer to that than $2k . We are building with G&P Builders. We were trying to build with Steve Parcell but due to the way our loan is structured because I’m on maternity leave we needed a contract quicker (and a bit cheaper) than they could do. So far we’ve been very impressed with G&P.
