Just a couple of little things that strike me Home Theatre - if you plan to use it as a home theatre have you considered adding a door or double doors so you can close it off while it's in use? Keep the sound in and the light out. WC - you could extend that and fit a sink in there too if you lost the study nook space in bed 2. A lot of people aren't keen on floorplans where you have to go another room for a sink. Even if it doesn't bother you it'a a potential resale consideration. And if you didn't want to sacrifice the study nook in bed2, you could change the WC door to a cavity slider instead. Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 4Sep 19, 2017 8:34 am Hi, great plan! (similar to ours, but bigger .) Things I might do if it were mine (obviously your decision, just some things to consider) - putting sliding double doors on the ensuite. It looks nice all open like that, but practically, you could see into the shower from the main bedroom doorway, meaning you will have to shut the main bedroom door whenever you are having a shower (unless you are home by yourself or privacy isn't a concern!). Cavity sliding doors aren't very obvious when they are open but are handy to be able to close. - putting a door (sliding or otherwise) between the laundry and the scullery, especially if you have/use a clothes dryer. The laundry can get quite muggy etc when using a dryer and you don't want that coming through into the main house (or the washing machine/dryer noise)? I can't think of anything else. I'm going to follow this one, I think your house will be lovely My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 5Sep 19, 2017 4:17 pm lovely plan just asking if there is a reason to have the shower and ensuite toilet where they are? we have a similar set up, but with toilet to the window side Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 6Sep 19, 2017 8:52 pm Thanks for the ideas so far, its so good to have a second opinion love the idea of a sliding door to the toilet to fit in a sink as we dont want to lose the study nook in bed 2. Also like the idea of the hidden sliders on the ensuite too. Thinkiny one across the scullery/kitchen would work too. Does anyone know a rough cost to add these doors on as an extra? We put the shower on the right of ensuite instead of the toilet as from what we had seen in display homes it made the room so much brighter with natural sunlight. Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 7Sep 19, 2017 8:57 pm You definitely need doors on your home theatre and your study, it would be very hard to "study" in your study with all the noise close by. I'd make the store in the study a little longer so the end of the wall lines up with the end of the family wall so you can put double doors there. Nice plan! Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 8Sep 20, 2017 8:15 am I think adding our cavity sliders (pantry and WIR) were about $700.00 - $800.00 each (from memory, I might be wrong). However, all builders will charge differently so this could be way off what yours would charge. good luck! My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 9Sep 20, 2017 8:19 am Our cavity doors were 220 for upgrading from a door already there to 450 for one without an existing door Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 10Sep 23, 2017 11:29 pm I like the design all suggestions so far are all valid I have a home theatre in my design and its an open design with 2 entry points with no doors to close it off It all depends what your intentions are in terms of usage of the room Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 11Oct 10, 2017 9:18 pm Its all good ... except the shower and WC in ensuite should swap places. Let me know what would you use for your theatre to block out sound and installing a door, if you at all are installing a powerful sound system... mine is in a bit tricky place cant have sliding door as its has windows on the RHS and LHS is a load bearing wall to the room. Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 12Oct 10, 2017 10:22 pm I would have to disagree about swapping the Ensuite shower and toilet, especially if you're enclosing the Ensuite with a door. I think natural light in there is a much better outcome, especially with an operable window for additional ventilation when required. Other than, I agree with enclosing the Theatre and Study. They leave them open on displays to make it feel bigger, but not very practical in reality. You don't happen to have a retaining wall around your block do you? Could run into a potential issue with meterbox location if so, as it appears you have a 1m setback to the right hand side boundary. By the time a fence is added, you wouldn't have sufficient clearance. Especially if as just_a_draftee points out the right hand side will need to have your meter box and maybe other services that might get in the way of accessing with a lawnmower/wheelbarrow etc (AC unit?) Re: Floor plan feedback HGWA - Vienna 14Oct 11, 2017 1:58 pm Great plans, looking forward to watching it take shape! Only thing I would add is a second shower fitting in the ensuite, you've got the space so I'd make it a double. But then we have little kids so it makes showering with them so much easier! Hi there! Absolutely agree on the wasted space. We have no desire for the master to be that oversized, but it occurred when we increased the depth of the garage.
