Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 18, 2017 2:12 pm Hi all, I'm seriously considering building with Granvue but can really find any reviews from people that have already been living in their Granvue property more than a few months. I love the layout of their homes however I just have concerns around the durability of rendered polystyrene. If anyone else has had any experience building with them or using rendered polystyrene, I'd love to hear of your experience. Thanks Re: Granvue Builders 2Sep 18, 2017 2:26 pm Hi Kak85 welcome to the forum You have raised a very good point, you might also what to check out Waterproofing/Flashings as well The few that I have inspected have been a nightmare for maintenance issues...goodluck Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Granvue Builders 4Sep 22, 2017 11:08 am Hi Kak, welcome to the boards! I'm building with Granvue and could go on and on about the experience we've had so far, but i'm at work currently. I'll check back in soon, and i may even just post my own thread to keep up to date with it all, so others have a reference point. Long story short: if you're in a rush, Granvue might not be the builder for you. If you want to customise your home and have time, then they may be the builder for you. Im very annoyed that they've changed our specs from Timber beams to rendered foam infill and will be discussing it with my admin today, but a few builder friends have told me it shouldn't be an issue (only one of them is exposed and that's above the garage, which is north facing so may request that stay as timber and the ones under the alfresco can be foam. Overall, our floorplan is my dream, super customised, but the time its taken is unacceptable and quite honestly, atrocious from a builder this size. Feel free to jot down some questions and i'll do my best to answer them Re: Granvue Builders 5Sep 28, 2017 5:54 pm Hi OCD_Jes, Thanks for the info! How is your build going? I have been to nearly all of the Granvue display homes and I have some concerns about the way the windows have been fitted. Many of the window seals on the outside of the window do not meet in the corners and may eventually allow water in. Have yours been fitted in your house yet? Also, did you get a fixed site cost? I will be building in a notoriously rocky area and would hate any nasty surprises! Thanks Re: Granvue Builders 7Feb 07, 2019 9:21 am Kak85 Thanks Travis. We actually decided to go with another builder after all. They wouldn't build on a conventional raft slab. Only waffle pod and I was not comfortable with that. kak85 Which builder did you end up going with ? We are looking at building Larimar 43 with Granvue in Melbourne West & have been told that they can build with a conventional raft slab. We are still working with the sales consultant, so a bit worried if it's a sales trick and they back down later. Re: Granvue Builders 8Feb 09, 2019 11:55 am Hey baronx we are building with Granvue Homes as well. We are building with a waffle-pod slab however my biggest advice would be to follow up any meeting you have with the sales consultant with an email. In the email, outline what was discussed and get in writing that you're both on the same page (and that specific "promises" can be achieved during the build). This will hold them accountable if there are any issues down the line. We have been very happy with Granvue overall, I have written a blog (www.thefirstbuild.com) which covers our whole experience including a half-way review of Granvue (https://www.thefirstbuild.com/single-po ... ew-Mid-way). I hope this helps and best of luck Follow the journey- www.thefirstbuild.com Re: Granvue Builders 9Oct 11, 2019 8:33 am i am talking to Granvue at this stage, but haven't decided yet. Re: Granvue Builders 10Oct 21, 2019 11:50 am Hi everyone, I am new in H1,I am overseas and would like to go with Granvue.I am looking at building Flint 28 in Greenvale. However the quote of site cost is higher than other builder. So tell me if you have any suggestion.Yhank you~ Re: Granvue Builders 11Oct 28, 2019 4:25 pm Hi Everyone I am currently building with Granvue Homes in Rockbank and its has not been an enjoyable experience at all. The building started in November 2018 for a double storey building which normally will take about 8months. I am now in my 12month and there is no end in sight. They have slowed down significantly since recieving 90% of the payments. They advised that the building has reached completion stage and have collected 90% of the contract fees in June. Since June, they have basically deserted the site. We are now approaching November and they just told me today that they cannot tell me when the building will be completed. I have called and called and called. To make matters worst, they have advised that they will no longer be writing me to tell me of the progress on site but that I will only hear from my supervisor on a fortnightly basis with a Private Number. My problem started when I recieved a call in June advising me that they wanted to start a pre-handover discussion because they are now at a completion stage. After the discussion, I put my house on the market and settled in August thinking that we would have plenty of time especially because there was just so little work to go. From then on, everything went to a standstill. Since moving out of my house, I have had to move into an Air bnb thinking that the remaining amount of work was so little that it will be finished in maximum 2weeks given that there is just a handful of things to complete. Since recieving 90% of the building fees, they suddenly don't have any tradies to do the jobs anymore, basically no one on the site doing anything, its more like an abandoned project since they recieved 90% of the building fees. I called today to follow up and ask when my project will be completed and they told me that they don't know. We are now approaching 13months of the building works. The remaining work on the site will not take the tradies longer than 2hours each to complete and this has been going on for 5months now. I and my family are now in my fourth Air bnb because they could not give me a completion date yet. Whatever savings I achieved have been spent on very expensive Air bnb accommodation. They have made my life very miserable indeed. I am definitely going to approach the VCAT and other building authorities and hopefully they will do something. I will definitely keep this forum informed of my daily travails. Look at your bill from the electricity company. It should detail the charges. You will need to do some estimating and some calculations.
