Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 26, 2008 2:08 pm Hi all, I just need to know in your experience, if weather is fine and all ordering sorted (frame etc) if a slab is due to be finished on 16th September 2008 - what sort of completion date can be expected. I will of course be asking same of my builder but I wanted to know if a completion by Xmas was feasible......
Please advise. Thanks Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 2Aug 26, 2008 2:32 pm Custom builder, project builder or owner builder? After 4 years - we're in! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 3Aug 26, 2008 2:55 pm From what I know, the earliest is around 4 months.
And there's a Christmas shutdown a few weeks before Christmas. So i think, it's not feasible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 5Aug 26, 2008 3:34 pm I'd say you'd be cutting it very fine - if there were no hassles, no defects etc you might make it.
Good luck! I'd be dropping cases of beer off on Fridays to make sure After 4 years - we're in! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 6Aug 26, 2008 4:13 pm Hey Stonecutter (looked up your blog btw, very exciting looks like you'll be starting soon) would love to drop off beers every Friday but might be difficult as we're living in Hong Kong!!! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 7Aug 26, 2008 5:38 pm our house is very close to finish, they started in mid May. I would say the house wil be handed over early next month.
I consider mine to be pretty fast, coz there were almost no days without someone working on the house (except weekends). and also our builder * by using a pre-fabricated frames which saves a lot of time it took them only 3 days to do the framing. Good luck guys... Start: 15 May 08, Current: Handover inspection 19/09 after that, the house is ours!! Oh, I based my opinion on volume builders... sorry.. What's the reason for the delay on the site start? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 9Aug 26, 2008 8:02 pm Hi build build, looked at your blog how exciting to see the progress. Your place looks fantastic and wow - fast working builders - how big is your house and who are you building with? Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 10Aug 26, 2008 8:15 pm Sorry VJ just saw your reply. I started a thread regarding start dates, it's a long story....(if you're bored look up my posts, will give you some light entertainment!!!) Basically Perrys (the builders) are pushing me into an early grave. Am trying to do this project from Hong Kong which complicates things but their head office is incredibly incompetent and its been one excuse after another culminating in me threatening termination as they're in breach of contract.....Am now fighting off a fever so haven't done much the last few days and have been contacted by the SS today, I could barely talk so didn't say much to him but he said that slab would be finished 16/9. Am planning to re-evaluate when I'm feeling more human and contact their head of construction to go through the whole story and see if they can pull their finger out and get the slab down earlier - according to their sales manager the slab was being done this week....that gives you an idea of what BS we're dealing with!!! Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 11Aug 26, 2008 10:32 pm Hi Brisvegas,
Thanks. We build with Burbank and the house is "gerbera" its about 28 square. I guess it also depends whether you're building a single or double storey house, double storey is definetly longer to build. Start: 15 May 08, Current: Handover inspection 19/09 after that, the house is ours!! Visit our blog: http://loveourgerbera.blogspot.com/ Re: NEED Yr expertise - time frame for build 12Aug 26, 2008 11:00 pm Well we're building a single storey home so that should help but looking at other peoples blogs of the process I'm seriously doubting it will be finished by Xmas
You must be so excited not long to go on yours now.... Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 14382 9 19186 Thanks NativeZen! I can't wait to start landscaping, though it's going to be a while away yet. No movement on site yet as of the weekend. Hoping to see some earthworks… 3 2163 |
