Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Front Door Height with 2700 ceilings 15Sep 15, 2017 2:53 pm Hailsm Has anyone actually gone back and changed something like this that needed council approval at this point in the build? Did it hold up the entire build process? Yes and sort of yes. Our garage zero lot boundary was muffed up and the builder had to resubmit plans. They did that in July, and whilst the garage wall hasn't progressed, the rest of the house has. We're about 6 - 8 weeks away from handover (supposedly!) and the garage will get completed in that time frame. They did push on though with the rest of the house with no issues. Not sure whether your front door would stop them; that would be for the builder to tell you. Re: Front Door Height with 2700 ceilings 16May 01, 2020 3:12 pm Joker We have,2700 ceiling with all internal doors 2340,but front door matches height of windows at 2040,you match top of outside door with top of outside windows, so they look the same height. Hi , Do you have some photos of you front door from inside and outside and any other internal doors for our reference please. we are in a similar situation and are trying to check how it looks ? thanks in advance. Re: Front Door Height with 2700 ceilings 17May 01, 2020 3:19 pm Hailsm So all our frames are up and roof tiles on and we requested to raise door heights throughout the house to go with the high ceilings. Upon looking at the frame work we have realised that the front door height was never raised with all the others. The front door is extra wide at least but shorter than all the other doors and I'm worried it's going to look stupid. What's everyone else's opinion. Hi Hailsm, just wondering what did you finally go with ? as we are in a similar situation where we can't increase the front door height but can go with 2340 for internal and alfresco doors and we are not sure how it will look if we go with standard height for front door and 2340 internal doors? if you don't mind can you share some photos of your front door (internal & external). Thanks Re: Front Door Height with 2700 ceilings 18May 01, 2020 5:05 pm Internal doors - you really do not need high internal doors, they need to be relatively lightweight and easy to open and also look proportional unless you make them all extra wide (e.g. 920+). Something slightly above standard, e.g. 2150x820 is a good height/width choice even with 3m+ ceilings, IMHO 2340 will look too high and un-proportional + added weight is not really helping. External doors, sliders etc., on the other side, have to be aligned with the height of the windows, so 2400 is a good option for 2.7m ceilings, as otherwise your windows will be a bit too low. 2.7m is a good option for 3m+ ceilings. Currently, new design trend are "invisible" doors: frameless doors which look they are integrated into the wall. They generally are 2150 mm in height. i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16001 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
