Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 14, 2017 11:11 pm HI guys, thought it was about time I started my own journey after reading some of yours. Signed up to build the Harrington Alfresco. With a few changes Signed preliminary work agreement on May 28th 2017. Got notification on September 5th that soil removal will increase from $3,000 up to $16,000. Was a shock to say the least, bit disappointed their average they gave us was so tiny. Nothing we can do though. Selections made on 8th September, will add these to this post. Received bank pack today with final figures. Bit disappointed to read our expected completion date is 28th August 2018. Another 11 months. I will be querying this, as its sounds to long. Anyway here is our design with modifications made. Made garage wider. Removed door to Theatre room and turned it into a large opening. Added a heap of extra power points, cupboards and draws to walk in robes. Draws added to ensuite vanity. Our special when we signed had a few bonus's which included 10 free downlights so have added those. We have moved all our light globes to the corners so we can convert to downlights after changeover. I chose those for the laundry and powder room. High wear rating and high non-slip. Hard to tell in this pic, because they are such a variable tile. Where did Hickinbotham get off giving you such a low soil removal estimate in the first place? Are you on a slope? Anything to get you over the line... Smart move adding drawers everywhere, so much easier. All the others are smart moves too, widening garage and more lighting. You will have heaps less stress in your life with more powerpoints! I'm old and creaky, so I raised the power points to 400mm from the floor - less bending! Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Welcome to Seaford Meadows!
