I love seeing what other people are doing in their houses. Do you have a house plan that you can share yet? Should be getting the drawings back in the next day or so! Alongside the quote with all the changes we've made so far. Will post it once we do Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 22Sep 21, 2017 11:04 pm staceyrussell Yay!! Colour Selections are super exciting!! Here's a list of things that we upgraded:
plus a few other things that came up in Colour Selections Thanks for that Stacey! A few things on there we hadn't even considered. At what point in the process did things like upgrading shower heads and doing wall hung vanities come up? Or was it something you mentioned to your sales consultant? Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 23Sep 21, 2017 11:05 pm bananarama Editing to add that’s the cost when you do it at colours appointment. We got charged more than that for the kitchen upper cabinetry prior to colours (more like $45 a door) and only $30 a door at colours for all other doors/drawers so I would def recommend waiting until colours to do them. Good tip! We were really wanting these, so will definitely wait for the colours appointment. Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 24Sep 21, 2017 11:16 pm Chiara95 We're very excited! We have a rough idea of what we want but it's hard not knowing the range we can select from for some things (such as tiles etc). Not sure if Tracey will give us a list of these things before the appointment or if it needs to all be decided upon then and there? Would be great if we could visit beaumont or something before hand and see them in person. You can definitely go to Beaumont and see them beforehand. Best to go to either Loganholme or Fortitude Valley stores as they work directly with Valeco and they can direct you to the tiles if you bring along your lists. Here is a link to download the list of tiles: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AkQ1Ycov5JVQ5GoG59HhJdHE9Urw Executive Tiles are standard. Premium Tiles are an upgrade. Just keep in mind these might be outdated? You can email Valeco for updated ones Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 25Sep 21, 2017 11:26 pm Chiara95 Thanks for that Stacey! A few things on there we hadn't even considered. At what point in the process did things like upgrading shower heads and doing wall hung vanities come up? Or was it something you mentioned to your sales consultant? Yeah, we knew we wanted them right from the get go - so we asked our sales person to price them for us and then we put them on our specifications list. You could probably ask for these at Colours stage though. But we just wanted as many things as possible priced up before going into Colours so that we had budgeted for most things already. Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 26Sep 22, 2017 12:50 pm staceyrussell CW_L Hi staceyrussell! Do you mind me asking how much you paid for your polished concrete flooring, and how many sqm it was for? Also looking into getting handleless cabinetry for the kitchen/bathroom and wondering how much we should be looking at. (our cabinets will probably be made of poly-laminate not polyurethane. Many thanks! Hey! As the others have said, it was $30 per cabinet/drawer for handle-less. (We just put a rough PC sum on our specifications and then got them priced properly at our Colour Appointment). Our polished concrete is $5024 for approx 128m/2. So that would work out to be $39.25 per sqm?? It is for a mechanical polish, nil exposure and matte finish. Pricing really depends on the finish (exposure leve, gloss level and concrete colour/stones) you are going for and the method. There are two main methods for concrete floors - Grind and Seal vs Mechanical Polish. There a pros and cons with each. We preferred the Mechanical Polish and it worked out cheaper than a Grind and Seal because of the finish we wanted. We got the quote from the builder, so who knows how much margin they put on it - but we spoke to OzGrind (the company the will probably use to do it) at their showroom to determine the finish we wanted. Hope that helps! Awesome, thanks so much! it's good to know as were trying to budget everything. Flooring has been our biggest to decide, and polished concrete just looks so nice!!!! Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 27Sep 22, 2017 1:36 pm No worries! Oh thought i should confirm that price is the cost to upgrade the flooring from standard. I dont know what the standard allowance was to know how much it would cost from scratch. Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 28Sep 22, 2017 3:07 pm staceyrussell No worries! Wonderful, thanks we're actually building with Fowler Homes, so were also unsure of what our flooring allowance is :/ Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 29Sep 22, 2017 4:55 pm staceyrussell Chiara95 We're very excited! I don't want to get anything wrong and it's so hard to commit to something! We're struggling over going with tiles or taking the upgrade to timber flooring she's offering to throw in. My problem is that I'm in love with the big 600x600 and 300x600 tiles, but we got a quote back on upgrading to those and we really can't afford to stretch the budget that much. I had semi planned the kitchen based on going with 600x600 white tiles (white and wood look cabinets and using white/timber furniture) and now I'm starting to look at color schemes to match timber flooring so we have an option for both. Any ideas? I've been on pinterest all weekend and I'm still no further along than when I started haha. Just discovering more and more things I love but can't afford to do . I always say monochrome Haha coz I love monochrome. You could do a walnut colour wood and dark cabinetry: https://au.pinterest.com/pin/473089135848009953/ But I assume you probably like lighter colours. Could do the same thing but white instead of black. That's the only worry - if it looks odd having two different "concretes". Sounds like you have lots of pendants though.. I'm very envious Re: First Home Owner - Building in Springfield Rise 40Oct 03, 2017 10:25 pm Sorry I've been a bit MIA, but can confirm we are official! Signed all the paperwork on Sunday! Just organising finance and then hopefully some full works drawings in the next few weeks. We've definitely taking a liking to minimalist/monochrome themes and now I think we're leaning towards basically fifty shades of grey haha! Actually went and saw the rugged concrete caesarstone and fell in love but we can't totally destroy our budget haha.
