Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 21Sep 15, 2017 1:00 pm We went with spirit grey we painted a canvas and carted it around the house in all kinds of light. I agree that it does have a bit of blue but it was the closest standard colour to what we wanted. We may still be arriving at handover with a tin of paint and a roller Good luck with the builders interview - I changed our brick colour three times while we were in there! Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 22Sep 15, 2017 4:01 pm DanTheUpholsterer We got our final builders interview today in about an hour !! Excited the planning stage will finally be over ! Also got our demo approval from council today so all is on schedule !! Electricity will be cut on the 26th of September so now we can book in a day/s to get demo done !!!! Oooh! Final interview! Exciting for you Dan! What paint did you go with? We went with Dulux Brume quarter strength... but we built with a different builder. I wanted a pale grey that didn't throw any other colours and stayed grey. I like your garage access to the pantry. Alas, our garage had to be on the other side of where we wanted the kitchen. Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 23Sep 19, 2017 9:59 pm We chose Solver Floral White as our interior paint with double strength on the skirting etc Selections process went well we are happy with our selections, we changed a few things. We changed our brick choice after seeing the samples in person and chose something completely different and we are absolutely in love with our choice. We couldnt make our mind up on paint colour and took a little while to come to a decision there. We made some changes to our front windows on the house instead of being sliding windows we changed them to awning windows. We also recieved our demo approval from council on friday and have now got a date for demo to start. SA Power will cut our power on the 26th and then the demo people will be coming on the 29th to remove our asbestos roof. No date on completion of rest of demo as yet but hoping it will be done by the 6th of October. Hopefully then we can get a start date for footings sometime late october. They are doing every aspect of the knockdown including Asbestos roof removal and knockdown of a few gum trees too Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 26Sep 23, 2017 11:07 pm Our rear verandah was removed on friday the backyard looks so open now its amazing how much space it creates and to think it will be replaced with a brand new house is exciting !! Our power gets cut on tuesday and we still have so much to pack up its going to be a busy couple of days. We need everything out of the house by thursday as the demo guys are coming to remove our asbestos roof on friday. Cant believe we are nearly there...planning has been going on for over 9 months now and to finally see it start happening is really exciting and relieving at the same time. Some other news we just found out about if you are putting in a reverse cycle air con like we are that requires 3 phase power, we just found out that there is a $630 connection fee payable to SAPN that we have to pay for ! That was unexpected, something else that people may not be aware of. Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 27Sep 24, 2017 9:04 am yay for the demo starting. how long do you have to wait between demo and footings? just asking as we were told 6 weeks to wet the soil Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 28Sep 24, 2017 9:45 pm We havent got a timeline from Fairmonts yet about when they are starting to do footings but demo should be done by the 7th and then we need to wet the block for 10 days before footings start thats all I know at this stage Will keep everyone posted as soon as I know an exact date Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 29Sep 25, 2017 7:12 am DanTheUpholsterer We chose Solver Floral White as our interior paint with double strength on the skirting etc Selections process went well we are happy with our selections, we changed a few things. Yep, paint colour is something that is difficult! I think I looked at every pale grey in existence, and then some! I love your outdoor tile - great texture. Our builders wanted us to have awning windows, but I didn't want the windows sticking out into the walkway between the garden bed and the bay window. How exciting to have a demolition! Are you going to keep any souvenirs from the old place? That was unexpected, something else that people may not be aware of. We got caught with the single vs three phase. That's a serious amount of money for a connection! Lucky I don't want to cool/heat the entire house at once - we are sticking with the single phase, and getting a single phase unit. Much to our air-con supplier's chagrin - however he had it in his head that we'd want more than three rooms on at once - we would NEVER do that, as it's only the two of us. I can heat/cool the house by halves if we have a heap of guests. Good luck with it all, I hope they get a wriggle on after the demolition! You'll be exhausted after doing all that packing so quickly... Not sure if a 3 phase meter is more? Feed in/out are around the $300 mark I think. Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 31Sep 29, 2017 10:38 am Today is D-Day as in Demo day !!!! Here's a before pic I took this morning Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 34Sep 30, 2017 9:11 am HI Dan, Saw that your doing a KDR and wanted to say congratulations. It's a huge process to go through and can be very overwhelming at times. This site is a god sent for the wealth of information and support. Your plans look amazing and your colours are very similar to our, we have white subway tiles going in with the grey grout. It's amazing how big your block will look once the house is gone. Good Luck with your rebuild journey Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 35Sep 30, 2017 9:27 am Thanks Rachael Yeah it's been a bit over whelming the last week or so but we got over the line ! Looking forward to seeing the house come down next week Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 38Oct 13, 2017 8:30 am looks like a pretty flat block for Blackwood!! Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 39Oct 13, 2017 9:32 am Yeah it's downward sloping but pretty flat will need a cut and fill to level out It's the reason we decided not to move to another block as it is a very nice block compared to others around us ! Re: New House Build KDR Blackwood SA Fairmont Homes 'The Gra 40Nov 01, 2017 12:31 pm Site works start tomorrow. But just found out that after the trenches are dug out we will have about 80 tonne of soil left over to remove at a cost of $16 per tonne all inclusive I thought it to be a reasonable price? What are others paying ? Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13443 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37142 |
