Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 121Nov 28, 2017 10:23 am 27/11/2017- Eaves painted, screeds laid in ensuite, bathroom, laundry and front patio. Panelling installed above garage door. Also received a large dent to our 6 month old existing fence today, our neighbour notified us of it, looks like I'll be mentioning that to Allworth Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 122Nov 28, 2017 1:37 pm I haven’t been on for a few days and look at your progress!!! That comment about the pots! Ha! Loved your comeback. Yas!!! The only cupboard I’m having on the bottom is under the sink, everything else is pot drawers in mine too. Half of my current house has them, just not on the island side, and crockery falls out and smashes when my son puts it away, won’t have that with pot drawers. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 123Nov 28, 2017 4:25 pm Pot drawers are the best!!! 😂😂 Your place is looking fantastic! Can’t believe how fast things are moving along so good to see. Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 124Nov 28, 2017 6:19 pm 28/11/2017- Tiled ensuite floor, main bathroom floor, laundry floor and most of front patio. So I have come to realise that our splashback height is 700 and our splashback tiles are 600x600 I believe this mistake occurred due to Timpelle kitchens mucking us around and not communicating with Allworth which meant we didn't have our kitchen plans when we went to our tile selection appointment it took 3 to 4 weeks of not hearing anything regarding our kitchen plans for me to call Timpelle and chase it up, I was then told "Oh were waiting on a reply from Allworth regarding one of your colours" I then had to ring allworth and ask them to call Timpelle before anything progressed. I was so annoyed Timpelle couldn't be bothered chasing it up and now it's caused this issue. So now I'm going to be onto Allworth again in the morning to see if they will swap the tiles for 75x75 or take them back for a refund and we will do it ourselves after handover. You must have a bigger than normal gap because of the higher ceilings, still, this should have been checked. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 126Nov 28, 2017 8:06 pm Our gap is also 700 which I think is because of our high ceilings too. Hope they can change the tiles over. viewtopic.php?t=88323&f=31&p=1771329#p1771329 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 127Nov 28, 2017 8:25 pm Fingers crossed they help you out with the tiles, loving the progress pics 👍👍👍 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 128Nov 29, 2017 7:04 am I so hope they change them for us too. Yes we should of checked it once we got the kitchen plans but honesetly we never thought of it. We told tile direct we were getting 2700 ceilings and raising cabinetry height so they're the ones that are experienced and should of picked it up seeing they do tile selections everyday with people. If they don't change it I will just tile it myself after handover or get a glass splashback. I did about 150sq metres of tiling at our last house and about 40sq metres at the house prior to that one so I've done done enough to be able to do a splashback. We seen this splashback this morning and think we actually like it better Also hoping they don't charge us the $500 odd in admin fees to change the tiles Oh the decisions Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 129Nov 29, 2017 7:42 am You can get a sheet of caesarstone and just glue it in and we are doing our benches and splash back after handover and doing this to match our bench. Also while looking at stone I found these gorgeous tiles from WK stone, they’re about $125sqm but a splash back isn’t a large area. I also found a cheap place that will do caesarstone for almost half the price of Timpelle if you’re interested Also a place that does chinese caesarstone in marble colours that are about 1/4 of the price of Timpelle cut and polished and pickup, not installed. That’s an exceptional price since it’s a top of the range caesarstone but still only 1/4 of the basic caesarstone My father in law has Chinese stone at his holiday house and I’ve stayed there several times and you can’t tell the difference Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 130Nov 29, 2017 7:54 am aphsta You can get a sheet of caesarstone and just glue it in and we are doing our benches and splash back after handover and doing this to match our bench. Maybe have a troll through wholesalers for offcuts, normal slab sizes are 3m x 1.4m, so you might be able to pick up an offcut cheaply? I would be a little hesitant to use real stone / marble tiles on a splashback due to it's porous nature. This would require the stone to be sealed, which would also require ongoing maintenance, just a thought. Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 131Nov 29, 2017 2:57 pm Thanks. So I was on the phone to the site supervisor and the tile shop all morning and if we choose to not have the splashback done there will be no refund on the tiles and to change them will likely incur an admin fee plus a lengthy hold up on things, the tile shop advised it will be at least a 4 week turn around to get new tiles in. We don't have time to play with so we have decided to stick to this splashback and they will be placing a 10cm piece of tile at the top section of the splash back so were not looking directly at the grout line and we still have the effect of large tiles. Oh well we will see and if we hate it we can always put something over the top. Site supervisor advised that all the tiling should be complete by Friday, which sounds amazingly fast. There was painters and tilers on site at the same time today so I will go out after 6pm and see what's been done today. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 132Nov 29, 2017 3:04 pm Haven't mentioned I'm also a self taught artist. Turns out I'm too late to change anything now anyway, we drove past after 6pm and the tiler was still there grouting the front patio, when we looked through the window it looked like the splashback had been done but couldn't 100% tell without walking right up to the window which we didn't want to do with the tiler there lol. So unfortunately I'm not entirely sure what was done today and didn't get any photos oh well we will try again tomorrow. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 136Nov 30, 2017 6:39 pm 30/11/2017- tiler was onsite again, it seems there is only one tiler doing it all by himself. He's there by 7am and he's still going at 6.30pm each day I'm sure he doesn't go home. He's a small Korean guy and a very hard worker by the look of it.
Anyway they painted the front rendered parts of our house, they were meant to be surfmist but they painted them a grey colour, I think the same grey as the gutters and downpipes. I think we like it better we seen it in white primer and it looked very bright then later that day they were this colour lol. The bricks look brown in photos but grey in real life. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Re: Building the Hampton with Allworth Homes 140Dec 01, 2017 6:16 am So we got a couple pics of our tiles so far sent to us. Yay The bathroom tiles are much darker than I remember selecting, but we didn't have many grey options without paying for an upgrade and we definately wanted grey. I love our light contrasting mosaic in the showers. Haven't began the main flooring yet, wondering if he's doing that now or after painting Ensuite shower Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Main bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our kitchen splashback, turned out ok, I think I panicked over nothing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Laundry Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89450&start=20 Ask for references and speak to them.
