I came across your post and saw that you built with allworth. Your house and pool setup looks amazing well done !!!

I have a query we're you charged any extra cost in your provisions for piering slabs brickes etc ?

Thank you.

From memory there was no extra charge for the slab other than what was standard, we went with the standard brick range, we were set on wanting grey bricks and pgh sorbetto was the only standard grey brick in their range we almost went pgh stone brick which I also like but didnt think it would go with our facade very well.
As as piers go, we actually got I think $1600 credit back, so our provision for that was over what they needed to do. We found that most of the stuff allworth put provisions for in the quote well covered the costs so there were no nasty surprises there

Which house are you building? And where abouts?

Hi, we're thinking of building the Hampton. Just wondering now you've been in for a while, are you happy with the home? We plan to do the "great room" option too. Do you find the living area is a good size for lounge & dining? And do you find you get enough natural light in the kitchen and the media room? Our current kitchen you have to turn a light on during the day! And we want to use the media room as a kid's room (initially). Would love your feedback

Hi, I'm so sorry I didnt reply earlier, I haven't been on here for some time, obviously lol.

I do love the Hampton however I am an artist and wish we built an extra room such as a home office so I can use it as my studio, but if your not one to work from home then I'd be happy with the floor plan. On a sunny day we have enough light in the kitchen but we dont have a vacant block of land on the loungeroom side of the house and the loungeroom high window faces the north so the sun is on that side of the house all day long. On an overcast day there is still ok light in the kitchen but its borderline of needing the light turned on.

The media room lighting isn't great but being a media room I'm not too concerned about that as it's usually darkened if wanting to watch movies etc. We use ours as our kids play room too although they are very young and dont play in there, if we knew what we did now I'd close the media room off to the hallway to the bedrooms and put some big bi fold doors opening to the kitchen side so they would be more inclined to venture in there. I have to say it doesnt have the best airflow and I would rethink the style of windows and enlarge some of them, but I'm one to like fresh air over air conditioning. I feel like the size of the lounge and dining area is plenty big enough.

I kind of wish that I chose a house where I can see more of the backyard from the kitchen too, as my kids are 2 & 4 and if I'm cooking dinner they're constantly yelling out to me.

I dont know if it's too late yet or not but check how big your fridge space, as most fridges are quite large these days and make sure your pantry door isn't swinging out past your fridge, ours collides with our fridge door if you have both open at the same time and should have been a cavity slider, it does our head in haha.

All this kind of sounds like I'm not happy with it but I am, it's very practical, modern and comfortable.

Oh that's good, if you have a display home of the Hampton near you, you should go and have a look at it with the list of things I mentioned to see if they would bother you.
One other thing is for some reason our toilet in the ensuite faces the shower which I find annoying and would be alot better if it faced the vanity and centered in its space. The toilet in the main Bathroom is also really close to the wall for some reason, I'd centre it on the wall because it feels really awkward sitting on the toilet that close to a wall lol.
The pantry door and fridge space is a massive one, I'm constantly annoyed by it haha.

Thank u, that’s great. Will check those out. Speaking of ur en-suite, did u put a door on ur walk-in robe in the master? We want to put a sliding internal door on. But we’ll have to jiggle the en-suite around a bit to do it. So will keep that in mind what u said about which way the toilet faces. Thanks 😊

We didnt get a door on the walk in robe at times I wish we did and at other times I dont feel it's necessary as its tucked around the corner behind the main bedroom door which when that is open it half covers the walk in robe entry.
