Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 221Apr 20, 2018 1:29 am You might be locked out however you can still see a fair bit of the fun stuff. Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 222Apr 20, 2018 12:30 pm Summitlovin nicolac34 Just caught up with your progress - looks really good! I'd love to buy all new furniture for the house, not sure we'll have the cash to though. I think our old beaten up furniture (as it's been moved, stored, moved, stored and will be moved again!) will look quite scruffy. I will have a mix of new & old. I treated myself to a new bed the other day but have put it on lay by. I've found lay by the best option when building as you can pay it off slowly so don't have to come up with big sums of $ straight away & you don't have to find somewhere to store the furniture. Win Win Lack of storage is a big factor for us not buying new stuff, the rental is already bursting at the seams my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 223Apr 24, 2018 2:42 pm Oven is officially in and taps/free standing bath/hot water system are done too. Photos aren’t the best through the dirty windows. Air con should be done thurs/fri and paving next week. I’ve had trouble getting quotes most places want to meet on site and a few haven’t replied. We’re in Melbourne next week for a small holiday so it’ll be the main focus when I get back Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 229Apr 25, 2018 11:50 pm J278 Choosy Not long to go now, how is your minimum move-in list going ? We’re in Melbourne next week for a small holiday so it’ll be the main focus when I get back I found time to get a couple of email contacts for window finishings this week, both said NP for initial quote with site measure later so I did a quick measure of window sizes after my tile meeting, just need to compile the request and brace for impact. Got another one from The Blinds Gallery which looked okay for sheers (3k) but their w-fold sheers (assuming these are like Veri shades) came in at 7k alone. Leaning towards Abc Blinds at this stage. Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 231Apr 28, 2018 12:25 am The W-fold look like the ABC Verti-sheers especially with the stripes in the fabric. I have tried to follow up the Veri-shades with Spotlight to no avail so hopefully will have better luck with Curtain World. Lots of little jobs to do. Since our last visit the aircon has been installed, corners and parts of the slab have been filled in, cornices in the bathrooms installed, smoke alarms fitted and toilets are in. Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 236Apr 30, 2018 10:43 pm Looks so good, you must be getting excited now, not to much longer to go now 😁 Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 238May 08, 2018 11:44 pm Choosy Edit ** Is every on track for your PCI date ? Hey Choosy! We popped over today for the first time in a week and they’ve done so much! Fly screens, carpets, wardrobes, mirrors, doors, door handles, shower screens, garage door, stained front door, exterior painted and pavers delivered. So I’d say we’re on track for the 18th. I think once the pavers are done that must be about it just the termite spray and final clean. Small hiccup - looks as if the standard carpet underlay was used instead of the luxury plus we paid for. Also the taps in the kitchen and scullery are wrong too. I’ve sent off an email so I’m sure they’ll get fixed. Taps will be an easy swap nothing that would hold up PCI yay. Re: Hilbert HGWA Build 240May 09, 2018 8:44 pm They confirmed today that they’ll replace the tap and have carpet call install the correct underlay. It might be a coincidence but my sisters carpet underlay was wrong in her build a few years ago and they never found out until they had a leak and the carpet was pulled up to replace after they moved in. The carpet companies do the install so it would be worth going and checking to make sure you get what you pay for. We wouldn’t have known but we walked past the skip bin and saw the off cuts of overlay in it. Met with a landscaper today to get a quote for the backyard. Looking forward to getting the quote and locking something in so my dog can move in asap. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2249 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 4419 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 5012 |
