Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 25, 2008 6:50 pm Hi,
I have a question. Should I be bothered when it's taking too long to put my roof tiles? Builder explained that they have problems with the supplier of roof tiles. Because of this, they did the wall bricks first and then we are still waiting for the roof tiles to be delivered. My problem is, sometimes it's raining and water is settling in some areas and some woods are submerged in water. I already contacted the builder about this and he explained that woods are treated that it should not cause any problem. You see, I'm not really knowledgeable about treated woods but based on my own knowledge, when woods are submerged in water, it definitely affect their durability. What should I do, do I ask them to change all the woods which are submerged in water or I should just believe them. I'm worried that in 5 years time, my house will just collapse.... Thanks for any inputs... Re: Woods Submerged in Water 4Aug 25, 2008 7:28 pm I think I'd be panicking about that too. I'd been quite concerned about our frame over the past few months, as it took ages for our roof tiles to go on as well - the frame seemed continually damp, but it was never sitting in pools of water - that certainly doesn't sound good .....I don't think frames have any water-proofing as such, but I believe the floors do (if you have a 2 storey). I'd be seeking some expert advice on your situation, definitely.
I'm just glad they gyprocked our house at the weekend so I don't have to look at the sad and sorry frame anymore - yay! Outta sight - outta mind. Ask for the drainage to be fixed. I recently read an article on this issue, worst case scenarios have been roof trusses failing due to decay after being uncovered for about 4 months. Re: Woods Submerged in Water 7Aug 26, 2008 7:23 pm Thank God I heard good news from our builder. They rang me and advised that roof tiles will be delivered on Thursday, finished the roof by Tuesday next week and it will be locked up already. At least they have actioned my worries.
The woods I've mentioned are still in condition by the way. They were not really submerged for cms of water, they were just damped due to raining and some of the waters are settling in some areas. Thank God, the sun is already shining and dried up some of the parts. 18 90417 From what I know about water tanks (I've been working with a client on them for a few years now) is this - The concrete can last a lifetime if they don't crack for some… 2 10619 4 10817 |
