Ohh that is a perfect spot for plants out front of your window ❤️ Tiling is looking great, all the grout lines match up beautifully. I have to admit I do love a good tiler. Yay for the front door Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 242May 24, 2018 9:58 pm great idea on the extended front porch - looks great especially when your landscaping is done. Also loving your tile choice - looks so sleek. Has your SS given you an indication of PCI? Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 243May 24, 2018 10:50 pm Concreting looks great! As tribe said, its probably councils fault. Ours is similar, but very sharp lines down the bottom as our builder did not want to go against the council restrictions. It basically tapers into a 1 car driveway, looks very odd. All our neighbours builders ignored it so they all have luxurious wide driveways Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 244May 24, 2018 10:56 pm Tribe7 Looking great Bree yes I see what you mean about the driveway it is a little narrow but it might have to be to suit your council requirements? Yay for the front door Thanks Tribe, Yes I didn’t think about that! Too late now to change anything. It would probably look worse if we add concrete to it later. I’ve been following you on Instagram! Yay for your guttering today - that’s a lot of metres!! Thanks gr8ly, we will probably spend most of our time out the back, but will be nice to be able to sit outside on the porch with a coffee or wine while hubby does outside stuff lol. Nothing in PCI yet. Electrical is on the 5th June. I’m not sure how much longer. I hope soon lol! I’m a little jealous of some of our neighbours too, although some driveways look worse than ours. Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Estate 247May 25, 2018 5:14 pm So my beloved kitchen splash back went in today. Extremely disappointed.. tiler laid them vertically. I don’t even know what to do. I feel like it’s so rude of me to tell them to take it all up and re lay them horizontal how is says on our colour schedule, but I’m so upset about it. Fiancé says it’s a huge job and we should compromise with them and try to get something else we wanted but didn’t upgrade to.. and they can leave the splash back. ahh Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 248May 25, 2018 5:57 pm breebarter So my beloved kitchen splash back went in today. It's your house. I personally think your backsplash looks fine - Vertically gives the illusion of space and height. I think our herringbone will be laid vertically as well in the bathrooms. Our staircase went in last week and they have installed in wrong - nothing what we wanted. We are now waiting to see how they will rectify it. Another mistake to rectify *sigh* Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Estate 249May 25, 2018 8:25 pm Ohw no ☹️ you need to make a choice, can you live with the splash back like that or will it drive you nuts? If nuts is your answer then request the change to be as per your plans, Gr8ly is dead right you entitled to have what you selected. I do agree with Gr8ly and like it how it has been laid. It’s looking great with the cabinets. Sorry to hear about your staircase, it’s so hard sometimes to know if drafting understand what your after! Fingers crossed they can rectify quickly for you, it would be in their best interest.. how far are you off contract times? I’m finally getting the hang of Instagram now Hi Tribe, I think I will say something to SS tomorrow, need to talk to him about organising access for our curtain measure quote anyways, so see what he says, it is growing on me though. Instagram really is so much easier than homeone lol. Everything is at your fingertips. Fingers crossed they can rectify quickly for you, it would be in their best interest.. how far are you off contract times? our contract says it should be finished the first week of July, but i doubt that very much. Unfortunately we don't have any pics to upload this week. We were locked out. Although looking through the windows, it looks like they have started on water proofing, and electrical cut-out. The darker patch is definitely an issue - that would annoy me so so much. If they have to replace it, they may as well replace the lot and have it laid the way you wanted to start with. I hope our tiler meets with us first to make sure we get what we expect. Hope they sort it out for you. That's what annoyed me about the staircase.. if they weren't sure then why didn't they confirm with us, the owners to ensure it was what we wanted. Are the tiles something we would tell our SS about now? Not sure considering we aren’t technically meant to be onsite or if I should wait until Friday to meet him when we are out there measuring for curtains anyway? That’s what is annoying, our tiler did meet with us and confirmed everything and still got it bloody wrong. Sucks considering we are all paying so much for our homes and the people in these positions just think ‘oh well, that will do’. Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 254May 27, 2018 9:31 pm i would definitely bring it up with your SS. And yep agreed! if they were working on their own home, i'm sure they would take the time to ensure it's perfect. These houses are our life savings. I'm sure it will be all be sorted for you though. Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 255May 30, 2018 7:54 pm So this week has been a long exhausting week.. and its only Wednesday!
Contacted our SS about our kitchen splash back and the fiancé had a meeting with the tiler this afternoon. we were very lucky that our tiler agreed with us, and said the dark patch was becoming more noticeable, he recommended ripping them up and choosing a new tile.. so guess where we are off to tomorrow, Beaumonts! I am inadvertently happy about a new splash back. After seeing this one I actually hate it, its way too busy. so if anyone has any suggestions on a new tile or something that you think would look good, my ears are open! lol I am also struggling this week with the whole house, this is our first house and I feel I should be so stoked with everything, however I am not loving our selections or how they have come together.. it just isn't what I thought it would look like. but heres some photos anyway, hopefully everything will look better once grouted, especially our ensuite penny rounds! I'm sure things will change when you get to the final stages. Sometimes the house just needs painting to tie everything together! It's great to hear the tiler has agreed to re-do the splashback. Perhaps choose a larger style tile. Smaller tiles will look more "busy" to begin with, especially in a herringbone laying style too. I'm not sure what specific tile to go for, but I'm sure you'll fall in love with something! My fiancé keeps telling me the finishes with make it.. and he absolutely loves everything and in turn thinks I'm frustrating! lol I also hope the mirrors will make our ensuite look bigger. I think the larger tile is definitely the way to go, might also steer away from the marble look. Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 258May 30, 2018 8:07 pm breebarter i love your colour choices. You have to imagine it with furnishings as well. You can easily brighten up the place with splashes of colour and plants. Also when your lighting goes in, it will look much different again. Good news about the back-splash. Agree with Stacey - get something with a larger design. Look at pinterest for some inspiration with the colour palette you have. We couldn't decide on a tile and went glass. Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 259May 30, 2018 8:13 pm Oh, when I replied before the images weren't in the post... your selections look gorgeous! Honestly! You will love them soon enough, I'm sure of it!! Re: Our First Home - Building with Valeco in Brookhaven Esta 260May 30, 2018 8:43 pm I think everything is looking great! I’m sure once it’s done and everything comes together you’ll feel differently. So great that they’re retiling the splashback. What about a larger plain subway tile, laid in a herringbone pattern? :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27716 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8939 |
