Hi, I'm Andy. My husband and I are currently going through the process of selling our Queenslander home but keeping the same block. We have lived here for 26 years, our children have left and bought their own homes. So it's time for us to downscale, sub divide our block and build a new home on one. Still not confirmed but we are thinking of selling the other block.
We are quite a few months away from building as we have lots to sort. Sell and remove the existing home and fill in the pool etc... Being a newbie I thought I would start our journey right from the beginning.
One thing we have sorted is our builder, we have chosen a local small builder in our area. So far so good, I've seen his previous work so I'm happy. Plus if I need an answer I can chat to him straight away. I'm not interested in the big builders. I'm one that likes to select the brands that is right for me; tiles, fixtures and appliances which he did seem expensive to begin with but since comparing with the big builders the quality is much better - and I'm here to stay in this house.
We have been to many display homes and have our inspo board ready to go. Plans are getting finalised from our drafter - which she has been excellent with ideas, I wouldn't call our house a custom design, she had a few plans already so we just altered one to suit our lifestyle which is housing an RV, grandkids friendly and fireplace is a must! We will be putting a pool back in but much much smaller.
Hopefully I can start updating with some progress photos shortly!
