Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 21Dec 11, 2017 11:05 pm Hi all, We decided to go with the house plan above. We had our tile appointment which was quick and easy and coming up in a few days is out electrical and colour appointment. With the electrical appointment, what are people doing in regards to the hefty clipsal offerings? We shopped around and have come up with a list with pictures of LED light fittings we want, mostly from beacon lighting, to take to our clipsal appointment and for ease of cost comparison. In regards to kitchen splash backs, is that cheaper if owner supplied and installed? Many thanks, Pablo. PS: how does one upload pictures on here? Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 22Dec 12, 2017 5:10 am Clipsal is an absolute rip we still spent 5k and only got one light in every room Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 23Dec 12, 2017 6:38 am I would put battern lights where you want down lights and at rough in notify the electrician heaps cheaper that way. viewtopic.php?t=88323&f=31&p=1771329#p1771329 Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 24Dec 12, 2017 5:09 pm If using your phone through Tapatalk it’s the landscape button down the bottom but I think it’s easier to do on pc. Sorry on ph at mom so can’t remember where on pc we spent heaps at Clipsal and heaps cash with electrician you need a money pit we’ve spent around 8500 on top of what they give you. We don’t have anything fancy, fans with lights in bedrooms ixl (us supplying ) in bathrooms downlights in living areas (did this with electrician) & some pendants in kitchen some people have been lucky enough to be able to use build electrician others not so just depends on your SS I think Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 26Dec 12, 2017 8:19 pm H Family I would put battern lights where you want down lights and at rough in notify the electrician heaps cheaper that way. viewtopic.php?t=88323&f=31&p=1771329#p1771329 Is this purely based on the electrician's willingness to play ball? Some members on this forum state that the electrician might raise a variation with coral homes if they wanna do everything by the book ending up in the same situation at the beginning, getting clipsal to do it all. I am thinking of getting all the wiring done at rough in then hire an electrician to plug the lights on. (not sure if this voids any warranties) Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 27Dec 12, 2017 8:41 pm BrownDog77 If using your phone through Tapatalk it’s the landscape button down the bottom but I think it’s easier to do on pc. I shall give it a go and see if I can upload some photos on here. My phone is useless at this. We are building a low set house and we shall need about 23 LED downlights. Worst case scenario (if build electrician isn't willing to help) is getting battens installed in some rooms for later replacement with downlights. At what stage did you engage the electrician on site? Our plans were submitted to the private certifier on the 12/01/2018. Our CSO says we may have to pay a $750 penalty because the start date is long overdue thanks to the slow approval process. We called the private certifier to find out why there has been a delay, they tell us they can't divulge much information other than the fact that it could be that they are waiting for paperwork etc. Now the CSO tells us according to the contract, a delay at the approval process is considered the customer's fault. How is that fair? Has anyone building through coral homes had such an experience??? And how was this dealt with? How is that fair? Has anyone building through coral homes had such an experience??? And how was this dealt with? Hi Pablo sorry I did not receive your last notification regarding electrician... We are in Newie but when we spoke to him before rough in he asked us if we wanted to any more and gave us a quote. I have no idea if it saved us heaps but at least its done before we move in. With regards to payment this must be something new C has brought in as MjMac was talking about it in the general build thread too I think (someone was) I would def question it as the certifier/ admin /approval process took forever with us and it was in a large part because they were waiting on documents with Coral. It is out of your hands once they send it to Certifier unless you have made more changes and needed variations and if they are trying to charge you for delay ask them why they did not use the local council instead of certifier? I def would not be paying anything....
