Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 61Mar 11, 2018 7:49 am [quote="aphsta"]It turns out that the plumber didn’t put in drainage in either the alfresco or the butlers pantry so they are going to feed it through the brick wall in the alfresco and for the butlers pantry they have to cut the slab. I’m rather annoyed as we didn’t want concrete in our alfresco and they made us pay for it and said it was required if we wanted the plumbing with drainage out there. So we are going to end up with a slab we didn’t want that we had to pay for that is of no use to anyone. The frames should have been delivered and the SS said that the carpenters are booked for Monday to start putting them up. He also said the issue with the slab shouldn’t delay the frames. Hubby is going down next weekend so I am hopeful they will be up and he can get some good pictures for me [/quote I hope they get it sorted quickly for you. Frames won’t take long to throw up so you will definitely have some progress to see in the pics 😁😁 Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 62Mar 15, 2018 5:10 pm Frames are up! We are spending Easter down there so I should be able to see some of the bricks done Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 65Mar 29, 2018 4:21 pm Can’t say we are impressed checking the place out today. In the last two weeks all that has happened was plumbing rough in and gutters and fascia installed. There’s no bricks on site, we are way into our 19 week build contract and have been told by our SS that that it won’t be completed in time since end date is meant to be early May. I was expecting to go there and see some bricks done so it’s got me a little down Anyway, it’s Easter weekend now so time to cheer up and enjoy our long weekend down here Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 66Mar 31, 2018 6:19 pm Is it because of a brickies shortage? Our bricks took close to 6 weeks, I think we waited 3 weeks for brickies to be available then almost another 3 weeks to finish as there was only 2 guys on it. I must say though we did have good brickies, they did a great job and our brick work is super straight.
Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 67Mar 31, 2018 6:24 pm Hailsm Is it because of a bricked shortage? I must say though we did have good brickies, they did a great job and our brick work is super straight. I would love to know what the issue is, he said they were a week late because of the bricks but no one contacted us to say why they still didn’t arrive this week. I’m not absolutely in love with them so wouldn’t mind changing if there’s a supply issue. The brickies were supposed to be booked for day after brick delivery was meant to be so I don’t think it’s them, but who knows? I assume I’ll get a call or email reply Tuesday or Wednesday viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 68Apr 04, 2018 7:49 am Hubby got a call late yesterday afternoon from our SS. There’s been an issue with our bricks, which doesn’t surprise me as I’ve seen other threads saying there’s been an issue getting their PGH bricks too. They hadn’t been made properly originally, he didn’t go into details but advised they should be delivered tomorrow and brickies to start on Monday. Let’s see how this goes. I just wish he’d let us know before we had to send that long email and not because of it Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 69Apr 05, 2018 8:39 pm aphsta Hubby got a call late yesterday afternoon from our SS. I just wish he’d let us know before we had to send that long email and not because of it The not knowing is hard isn’t it we’ve had pretty limited communication so far too always initiated by us to ask something. We had a delay with our bricks too and decided to go with our second preference as it would have been a 3 week wait. Our brickwork was finally completed on Tuesday so it was a full month to get it finished. Hang in there I’m sure things will improve. It will be so exciting to see a bricked up house certainly makes it feel more real. Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 70Apr 05, 2018 9:13 pm We ended up getting a call on Tuesday afternoon advising there had been an issue with the bricks but it had been sorted. We have waited 3 weeks for them now. They have been confirmed as delivered today with sand and other supplies due to be delivered tomorrow. If the brickies finish their current job tomorrow they’ll start on Monday, otherwise Tuesday and our SS said he’ll try to catch up some time. Today has been spent trying to finalise what stone and splash back we want in our kitchen as we are doing our own. All cabinetry is polar white silk with shark edges but we kept swinging between marble look stone or jet black stone. Black marble or white marble back splash or plain gloss black tiles with white grout to offset it. I’ve finally decided on jet black stone tops and waterfall and either caesarstone white marble backsplash or marble tiles Something like this, not the layout, just the colours Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 71Apr 08, 2018 9:16 pm Very excited! My in laws were driving up the coast back to Sydney and went past our block, not only are there bricks, but it’s all set up and bricked a little. Considering I wasn’t expecting anything until tomorrow I am very happy and looks like they are all ready to get stuck in. Looks like plaster for the eaves is on site also Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 72Apr 09, 2018 7:35 am That’s awesome news!! I’m sure they’ll get cracking along now all sounding very positive 😊 Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 73Apr 10, 2018 12:30 am More good news, my brother in law is an electrician and has been able to get a 14kw Ducted Daikin system for us at cost price from colleagues who order 100’s at a time. Saves us a stack of money and he’s going to put it in for us after handover with a couple of helpers. He’s able to get all the ducts and zones super cheap for us too so I can have as many outlets and zones as I like! Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 74Apr 18, 2018 9:51 am Progress report- They should have bricked all last week and into this week until finished. I am hoping roof to come next I measured all the windows when I was last down at the site and finally confirmed all my blind sizes that I paid for at 50% off in the post Christmas sales, so they’ve gone into production on Monday. I’m glad we waited a bit as the colour I had originally chosen was sold out and I could’ve either waited 6-8 weeks or change colours. Glad I had been able to think about it because I chose a different colour and had gone off the original colour. I’ve been getting driveway quotes this week and stone quotes for the kitchen. Going for jet black bench tops and a marble stone splashback. I just want to go look at the slabs in person to choose the exact marble I want. I am going down there tomorrow for a week so I am really looking forward to seeing the house and the progress over the week. Will post some pictures tomorrow once I have checked it out Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 75Apr 18, 2018 1:05 pm Great news! Fingers crossed there’s lots of progress when you get down there. Re: Allworth Avalon / Sonata Our Dream Home 76Apr 18, 2018 1:58 pm I just got an email and was so disappointed at first because the they don't have enough of next fabric colour fabric since it's the whole house and won't get any in till early July, so I chose a more expensive textured fabric in a similar colour (looks the same to me) and told her to email an invoice for the price difference. I was doing the cringe face but she just emailed back saying they will do that fabric for me at the same cost for the inconvenience, Winning! They’ve done a fantastic job, you could just about call it perfect, my picky hubby is very impressed, apart from the drain issue in the slab the work so far has been great. They’ve used way more timber than required in the frame. It’s very straight, 450mm apart and thicker pieces. Going by this morning and hope to see someone on site. We’ve never come across any workers at the site so it would be good to meet some trades yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5333 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
