Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 163Dec 14, 2018 8:23 am stanus The estimated finish date is September. Hopefully sooner. That seems like a fair bit away. Although ours took over 11 months. I think they are giving themselves enough time. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 164Dec 18, 2018 3:12 pm We got our bricks delivered last week. They were supposed to start the sarking of the house today, but have yet to start. Hopefully will be done tomorrow. The feature brick is a 50mm brick called Austral Melbourne Hawthorn. That will be at the front face of the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ the other bricks are going to be totally rendered so are not going to be seen. They have a rough surface for the adherence of the render. (that is what I have been told) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have been told the brickies will start bricking before Christmas, stop and the come back after the new years start. Slowly inching forward! Can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s done. Bricks will take awhile. They will look very nice being the slimmer ones. It’s takes a bit to get going once they come back. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 167Jan 19, 2019 2:21 pm Hi Stanus: If you don't mind me asking, how much was your Hume Matisse Double Front Door and door handles? I got quoted $9800 for the double front door, which is on top of the $1030 upgrade to the door Frame. Then $2950 for the handles and $2500 for the curve head highlight. So $16k for the front door and I was hoping around $10k... Seriously thinking about just getting the standard double door and change it post handover, no way it's going to cost $15k or maybe I'm out of touch. I still want a similar double door, might approach the supplier directly and ask for a price. A grand entrance door definitely gives that wow first impression, but I just think with the price you can probably get something even better. I got my eyes on this local door maker, but might not be cheap either. https://www.armadaledoors.com.au/ Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 173Jan 21, 2019 8:23 pm Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 175Jan 23, 2019 3:27 pm Looking very nice stanus Metricon Franklin 53 modified Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 176Jan 23, 2019 5:36 pm It’s coming along nicely. Are you happy with the progress so far? And the workmanship? viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 177Jan 23, 2019 7:30 pm thanks guys. workmanship looks good. There were some small issues which the new home inspections picked and the site supervisor rectified. Overall up until know I am happy with the progress. Today scaffolding was started for the first level. I expect weather wrap for the first floor next week and bricking to continue after that. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 178Jan 25, 2019 8:12 am That’s great so glad to hear it’s going well for you. Can’t wait to see the rest. I bet your getting excited? viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 179Jan 27, 2019 5:15 pm I am happy when I see progress in the build. I drive past every day (to work) and it is great to see something being done. Today, Sunday they weather wrapped the upstairs exterior which surprised me as yesterday when I drove past in the afternoon (and took the below photo) only the scaffolding was done. (I did not expect them to be working Sunday) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 180Jan 27, 2019 5:57 pm stanus I am happy when I see progress in the build.
