Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 42Sep 24, 2017 7:22 pm stanus yes D777, they have changed their supplier. Last I was at M for the contract signing I took a pic of the Legrand GPO/switches. They do not look as nice as the Clipsal ones Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Braemar have a six star heating unit(that's the one I am getting) I liked the functionality of the Actron (connected to the internet) so you can remote into it from the phone, but because it is electrical based I went with the gas Braemar unit with the refrigerated add on unit) the stairs will be like the display. They say they dont have Clipsal at all any more due to a contract/supplier change. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 46Sep 24, 2017 9:31 pm I was told at contract signing that if you had chosen clipsal at selections they will go through with that.
i.e. only after the legrand brand come on board in early august and you did selections after that you would get the legrand/hpm ones. Think about it from M side. If they converted every one not at site to hpm you have to book in an appointment to see them again and reselect. The man hours wasted would be huge. It is easier to keep putting the clipsal switches and gpos to the people who have signed up than to change everyone which req. a reselection. I know from my electrical selections, last week I put in a couple of power junction boxes and M are still using the clipspec program. If there was an issue they would have told me "hey you know you have to reselect the switches" As of right now I have not been told I will have to reselect, to the contary I was told they will phase out the switches with the customers who have requested them. Great to see your project. the house gonna look stunning. Saw you opt for double glazed window. Did you also opt for low e coating? M in QLD says them only do standard double glaze. Also did M charge a lot for sound stop plaster? Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 55Oct 03, 2017 11:21 am I am sure that M will charge more for Sound Stop Plastering. If it’s beyond a standard inclusion it will be changed. Great to see your project. the house gonna look stunning. Saw you opt for double glazed window. Did you also opt for low e coating? M in QLD says them only do standard double glaze. Also did M charge a lot for sound stop plaster? Hello, Windows while being double glazed do not have low e coating. I did not specify it as I did not know what it was at the time. And when I did it seemed I minor issue for a place like Melbourne were sunlight is not as harsh as up north. i.e. I considered double glazing more important. For USG Soundstop plaster which I am doing all the external walls of the house both ground floor and upstairs it cost just over 10k. I also am doing sound check insulation to all external walls and selected internals like bedrooms, laundry etc. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 57Jan 13, 2018 10:19 pm It has been a while since I last posted in this thread about any updates. I am still in admin. However in the last stages. Existing house has yet to be demolished, but hopefully in the next few weeks we see action on that front. I am on variation 4 at the moment.(although there have been many corrections to each variation due to errors either on my behalf but mostly M's.) Although the first variation was me adding items on, the others have all been M changing stuff as it did not comply with this rule or that. I lost 10m2 of concrete from the front of the house as it was deemed to much concrete coverage. (I wished they informed me of that earlier to stop back and fro paperwork that has no filled two big A4 lever arch folder) The site costs have gone from 70k to just under 105k. They have said it might decrease when the second soil test will be done but I hate that they randomly add extras with very little explanation apart from 'we think you will need it". The site is flat with a small elevation at the back of under 2 cm but the soil is P class and quiet reactive. The tile variation has been that last hold out. Been waiting for it for three months. Come in as an additional 58k, but have asked Beaumont to add the displays protective tile angles which are not aluminium bright silver, but a alum. L shaped series trim ALA3 powder coated Colourbond colour called Jasper. Nearly missed that but upon re reading the displays inclusions it popped out at me, were before I had totally missed it. Hopefully in the next few months we have progress and we can start the build. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 58Jan 15, 2018 7:09 pm Glad too see you back. And your so close to starting your build now. Admin stage is a nightmare. I went through it too. But building has been great. You always need to make sure to stay on top of things. Cos Metricon don’t. Always double check things. Can’t wait to see your build. I bet your anxious? viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 59Jan 18, 2018 8:37 pm although been lurking on the forums have not been posting to much on my thread as nothing was going on. Just variations and corrections, errors and corrections again. The demolition of the old house is happening at the end of month. Some progress, seems like we are inching forward. Re: Building the Metricon Doulton 60Jan 19, 2018 8:45 pm It’s been pretty quiet on the boards for awhile. I don’t know if it’s even worth posting updates anymore lol. We have had a lot going on. We are so close to the end. My ss has done well so fast. It won’t take you long after they knock it down to get too slab stage. Can’t wait to see how your build turns out. As everyone has things different. It’s good to see different styles. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
