Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 68Oct 27, 2017 10:43 am candicewebster Hey guys, just wondering is anyone worried about the space in their garage? I realised after my plans went to council my garage is 6m long and 5.8m wide but because of the garage door its more like 5.8x5.8 I now have realised our hilux will probably just fit or won't fit at all and the next car I buy I'll have to be cautious about the length of it. I remember asking sales staff if a hilux would fit and they assured me it would easily but now I'm learning different. The things you learn when you build hey. Hi Candice, Not sure if the dimensions of the hilux's have changed over the years but the newest model is 5.33m long according to Toyota, so theoretically it should fit, albeit a tight fit. I would be more concerned about roof height if you have a lift kit and roof racks etc. Maybe the old tennis ball on a string might come in handy when parking in the garage once the house is built Thankfully it was definitely something I learned from the last build and our length is 6m internally with a 2.4m height door. I would have to say after all the house designs I looked at this time around, Allworth are fairly generous with some of their garage dimensions, the majority of the volume builders are down to 5.5m - 5.7m double garages, which you can't really fit two cars in now days. Hope it works out for you. Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 69Oct 27, 2017 12:55 pm One of our extensions was to make the garage 6m wide by 6.5m long, but now we are battling the council for justification for making the side setback 3m instead of 3.5, council say they’ve communicated with A, A say they’ve never got anything and it’s just emails going in loops. I am slowly going crazy! We will never get council approval at this rate and council won’t accept anything I send them myself viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 70Oct 27, 2017 1:01 pm aphsta One of our extensions was to make the garage 6m wide by 6.5m long, but now we are battling the council for justification for making the side setback 3m instead of 3.5, council say they’ve communicated with A, A say they’ve never got anything and it’s just emails going in loops. You are the ratepayer after all? Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 71Oct 27, 2017 1:03 pm They have and we’ve spoken to them, it’s just a mess. Hoping for your sake it gets resolved quickly. Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 73Oct 27, 2017 1:10 pm Do you mind me asking... How do you get your thread to link without having a huge picture in your signature? Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 74Oct 27, 2017 1:13 pm aphsta Do you mind me asking... How do you get your thread to link without having a huge picture in your signature? You need to do it from a pc, hover over your avatar on the top right of the page and click on settings, then once that screen loads up you will see a signature section. just copy and past a link to your build thread in there and save. Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 75Oct 27, 2017 1:23 pm Yes that is correct but once you put on a bull bar and tow ball you start to really run out of room. Anyways you live and you learn. I suppose these are just the things you learn in your first build. We don't have lift kits etc which helps. We are also building another garage on the property so at least we will have extra room there to park vehicles etc. I've heard people say the about the tennis ball on the string lol what a great idea I think I might actually do that. Hoping for your sake it gets resolved quickly. I ended up having to go to a councillor there who got me in touch with the director who told me he’s had it approved today and it’s just having the paperwork done. I haven’t even got my kitchen done after 5 and a half weeks and put in a complaint that’s gone to the General manager of T That’s just to get the quote right, so then it will have to go to drawing. While everything is at a stand still I’m trying to get a variation to get a super deep bath after staying in a hotel on Saturday night and loving the one they had there. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89059 Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 77Nov 03, 2017 3:14 pm We have movement at the station lol the port-a-loo got delivered today Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 78Nov 07, 2017 7:47 am Woohoo! Anything else? Like a fence yet? Also can anyone please let me know how long from council approval until your contract appointment? Is it a matter of days or like multiple weeks? Re: Allworth Langford Countryside or Langford 79Nov 07, 2017 12:57 pm Hi aphsta if it's any help our DA was approved on 17 Oct we found out via the DA tracker. We are booked to sign contacts on Friday so it's been a few weeks. I was hoping it would be quicker but this admin stage just seems to be painfully slow. Were are you at with yours? Candice how exciting love the updates keep them coming! Candice how exciting love the updates keep them coming! We were told via email from the director that he had organised for out DA to be approved since we had to go to a councilor and then him as our assessing offer wanted to cut half a meter off the side of our house which wouldn’t work at all. He’s doing the work involved but it’s not showing as complete yet. We are still waiting for drawings for the kitchen but that’s it and Tonia said they only need the quotes to do the contract anyway.
