Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 25, 2017 7:16 am We are looking for a H&L package in outer Melbourne (Epping, Mernda, Officer, North Clyde, Wyndham Vale etc) and the budget is around 550K. We are not in a hurry to move in as we will be working overseas for the next 20 months. In this way we could make use of the requirements of FHOG as well. We could visit on a regular basis once the construction start and intend to appoint some professional agencies for independent inspections at various stages. We are looking for some trustworthy builders who could maintain their professionalism regardless of the fact that we are based overseas. Any suggestions please? Re: House and Land Package suggestions for Melbourne 2Jul 25, 2017 10:44 am friction I think you'll find builders don't rank high on the Trusted professions list 2017 In fact they don't rank? Coupled with the knowledge of knowing you are overseas...some may think "jackpot...money for jam" here are my tips 1. Select your block first 2. Get your own Design, Site report & Engineering 3. Get 3 builders quotes based on 2. above 4. Thoroughly research the builder and ask for feedback 5. Some New Home salesman are on a par with car-salesman..so 6. Befriend some one building/living nearby on Homeone and ask if they would kindly drive by and take photos for you. 7. I also suggest in 6. above you give them a housewarming gift.." No-one is closer than your neighbour" 8. Have you House build professionally inspected at critical progress stages , Ie siteworks,Footings & Slab, etc 9. Post photos and ask questions goodluck.. Re: House and Land Package suggestions for Melbourne 5Jul 25, 2017 8:15 pm Friction Sorry, I am not familiar with metricon..but I would say they are no different to other builders .I would recommend approaching at least 3 project builders with similar plans, compare apples with apples, and get them to sharpen their pencils for quotes. Just remember you are initially in control..ask questions ...make informed decisions Others here can tell you of their experiences.
