Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2017 8:16 pm Hi Folks, We actually have plans and are about go to Engineering, we have some prelimary quotes (but nothing formal yet), I think we will redact names/logos from the plans and take them to some builders to get quotes. What is the normal process for people to get comparitive quotes? Any advice/questions or experiences would be of value. FYI we are building on a sloping block house is around 43. Cheers folks. Lokster Re: Working Drawings Complete about to go to Engineering 2Jul 24, 2017 8:09 am Before you go to the builder, I found it helpful to have completed electrical plans and energy report. We encountered problems when we went to get a building permit. Our architect missed an overshadowing issue and their was a design issue regarding the stairwell which had be resolved while the building was being built. So please ensure that your architectural plans work. BTW, don't give the quants to the builder they are for your reference only. nikil_charitra Couldn't agree more, avoid post contract variation delays & $ticker $hock, also get someone to check critical construction stages, ie Site works, Footings & Slab, etc,etc Start a build thread ask, questions, post photos Goodluck Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Working Drawings Complete about to go to Engineering 5Jul 27, 2017 5:44 am I agree, a BIM model is extremely helpful - ideally the model could also include electrical and systems Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do?
