I don't mind some of the concrete block walls. My step dad's giving me a hand. Ah ok. I’m the same at the moment, it’s hard to think about the garden when the house isn’t finished yet haha. Look forward to seeing what you decide on. I like some of the concrete blocks they look easy to lay, we have some left over bricks but I think they’ll take up too much room if used as retaining, we were also thinking of doing a deck as our garden is not very big, it’s wide but not very deep and retaining with sleepers maybe. Lots of choices. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 124Sep 19, 2018 6:37 pm Code128 Guy T Not exactly sure yet, because i don't know what's expensive and what's not. It’s always great to hear on this forum, how everyone’s plans and dreams become a reality. 😁 Is that Shale Grey render and a Monument roof you have? We are planning to build with Hickinbotham, any tips or suggestions you think worth passing on! We are planning to build with Hickinbotham, any tips or suggestions you think worth passing on! Hi Bebbsy, Haven't been on here much since we've moved in. It's getting close to 3 months now after handover. I literally tell myself multiple times per day how much i love our house. There is something really satisfying living in something that you've created. It's a great feeling. We had a really positive experience with hickinbotham, not to say we didn't have our battles along the way and challenges but you have to expect things will go wrong and there will be some delays. The render is surfmist and roof is twilight. Garage door is monument. There is some really great information on this forum and i found it really useful. The whole project for us took around 2 years all up. I can remember driving around for months looking at blocks of land and going to every display house in adelaide weekend after weekend but once they start building it all happens fairly quickly. We had never done anything like this before and have no building experience. The whole process we found pretty straight forward. Take your time. Ask plenty of questions. Get them to explain what you don't understand. Never assume anything. Relax. Things will go wrong (only small things for us). Expect plenty of ups n downs with your emotions. Have you got land yet? Where are you building? Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 128Oct 25, 2018 9:00 am Guy T Bebbsy Your house looks very nice, you must be pleased with the results. Where are you building? Cheers for that. Very happy for you. 😁 We are looking to build in the Adel Hills and have seen a block of land but can’t purchase until our own house has sold. 😕 In the meantime have settled on a design and had modifications made to that floorplan. It’s looking good so far, but costing more than we hoped it would. I’ve made one visit to the Hickinbotham Design centre so far, to try and get an understanding of what the basic inclusions are. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 131Nov 05, 2018 6:43 pm Still nothing done yet on the landscaping front. We're waiting for the neighbors bricks to be completed before the fence can be done. Once fence is done then we can do retaining wall then lay turf and plant plants. Really thought it would have been done by now... have everything ready to go pretty much so should go up pretty fast when we get the green light. Few busy weekends coming up.... can't wait to get it all finished... Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 134Dec 06, 2018 3:13 pm Hi Guy, Love the colour scheme you've chosen for your house. Especially for the kitchen! That splash back is to die for! Just wondering how the black cupboards are going? I would love to that in our build but worried about them always looking dirty with greasy fingerprints. Cheers, Chelsea. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 135Dec 06, 2018 10:12 pm Hi Chelsea, i haven't noticed any issues keeping them clean. Might be different if it was a gloss finish? But we chose matt finish. The color is deep anthracite which changes shades with different light. Still love it. Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4410 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 18293 Can anyone recommend a good/affordable retaining wall and fence builder that I can get a quote from located in Sydney? 8 46439 |
