Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2017 10:32 am Hi all. After about 5 months of searching for land in Adelaide's north east we've finally settled on a narrow allotment in Clearview. We looked at this lot months ago but were initially put off by the narrow width and went off looking for larger blocks in the Modbury area. We made several offers but as we needed a 5 month settlement most vendors were not willing to wait. We came back to look at Clearview as with our price range this seems to be about the closest we can get to the city and we should be able to get reasonable return on our investment. Our block dimensions are 7.62 by 45.72 making 348m2. At that width there's only a couple of designs that will fit on it. We're basing our design on the Lisbon from hickinbotham but have modified it to include a second living area, walk in pantry and slightly different kitchen. I'm really happy with what we've come up with so far and the way the space has been used. This will still allow us about an 11m backyard which is quite good compared to some of the other blocks we were looking at. Below is a rough sketch of what our design should look like and we're hoping to sign off on the initial quote and plan in the next few days and move on to the next step. Looks like a nice flat block. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 3Jul 25, 2017 7:55 pm Nawsome Hi, we are also building in Clearview. Looks like a nice flat block. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 4Jul 25, 2017 8:12 pm My dh bought our current home here about 8 years ago - we are doing a knock down rebuild here. The clay here is terrible - we got H2D soil that is also P due to trees, so our footings are about 850 deep (ouch), but apparently there are some nicer pockets of soil around here. Apparently if there are thistles in your block, that is a sign of clay Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 7Nov 02, 2017 8:51 pm yay - how exciting for master plans and great news on the footings Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 9Nov 02, 2017 9:00 pm hopefully signing off on variations this month, so probably not demolishing until next year now Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 11Nov 18, 2017 1:39 pm We had our selections appointment yesterday. For those Hickinbotham clients that haven't been to the new design studio, you should check it out, it is a major improvement on what they had before. We were happy with what we chose in the end but it's always a bit difficult to know exactly what it's going to look like once completed. Anyway, very nice experience, the complimentary food drinks was a nice touch and video games and movies for our daughter kept her content too. Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 17Feb 27, 2018 9:54 pm Yay and happy birthday! So excited to see so much happening in clearview at the moment Re: 1st home build Clearview SA with Hickinbotham 20Mar 01, 2018 10:39 am Nawsome nice trenches Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4297 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17609 Can anyone recommend a good/affordable retaining wall and fence builder that I can get a quote from located in Sydney? 8 45823 |
