Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 14, 2008 5:21 pm Hi guys,
I would appreciate any comments or feedback from people who have built with Zuccala or Snowdon home builders in Melbourne. Any comments on the build quality of homes & overall customer satisfaction produced by either of these builders would be greatly appreciated. Re: Comments on Zucalla or Snowdon home builders 2Jun 14, 2008 7:19 pm I built with Zuccala. I was reasonably happy with the build. The sales consultant was great, the colour consultant was also great. The customer service wasn't always as good as I'd like - Zuccala seem to have experienced a lot of growth in a short time period and I don't think their staff numbers have increased to match the demand. The lady who was my customer service rep was doing 2 jobs and she just seemed too busy. They were a bit slow on getting variations out to me. Very fast at getting bills out to me though
The biggest problem I had was that during my build my site supervisor changed 3 times, and they weren't keeping track of issues I'd raised so each time I got a new site supervisor, I had to run through the issues again. Also, there seemed to be a 3-4 week period between one site supervisor finishing and the next one starting and during that period, no work would be done on my house. The reason they kept changing supervisors was because they had only recently started working in my area (Werribee) and so their site supervisors who were already on staff were from their local area (South Morang) - or at least that's what they told me. The last site supervisor finally was a local, he lives close by and was the best of all of them, I wish I'd had him all along! I'm reasonably happy with the build - except for the paintwork. A few things will need fixing at the 3 month inspection in August, like my study door doesn't close properly and the toilet door can be difficult to open and close - I'm told these sort of issues are normal. Nothing major. There was a big issue that was picked up at my independent inspection (thanks Kevin) which was rectified without any problems from Zuccala (although the offending tradesperson was a bit annoyed about having to come back lol). My house plan was a very modified version of one of their existing designs, they were more than willing to modify the plan to fit my block and didn't seem to charge excessive fees to add/remove items. I was happy with the price, there were no surprises along the way and their price was well below any of the other builders I looked at. I can't really compare them, other than through price, with other builders as this is my first home - I don't have first hand experience of anyone else. But price was a big factor for me as I was on a very tight budget and they were the only ones who were willing to work with me to build a house to fit that budget. Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Comments on Zucalla or Snowdon home builders 3Jul 18, 2008 9:03 pm Hi Colleen,
I am thinking about approaching Zuccala because they customer/alter designs. What are their standard inclusions like? Color/fittings range etc? Still searching for the right builder 4Jul 19, 2008 6:00 pm Hi,
I am going to put off building until next year. Need to save a bigger deposit. but am still looking around. There r so many builders. Zuccalla seem pretty good. But I have not seen much of their houses being built around Craigieburn. Most people seem to be building with Orbit or PD. I've heard good things about PD, but the only problem, all there designs are way too narrow for my 20m wide block. They need more designs, & versatility . This is where Zuccalla seem quite good. Tell me about it, most volume builders are very similar with their designs and strict on their floor plans, I am having the same problem, slightly difficult block = very limited choices with builders I am definately going to give Zuccalla a call today to get an idea on price. I am looking to build with them but I am looking for some reviews which I am finding quite difficult at the moment. Can anyone offer me some advice/feedback that have been experienced, it would be greatly appreciated. Not a lot about this builder on H1 so can understand why you've dug this up! --- Re: Comments on Zucalla or Snowdon home builders 9Jul 30, 2017 7:35 pm Copying my review here so maybe I can save some people their money - Everyone's a smooth talker and extremely helpful before they get your deposit. Once they have your money it's a different story! (Same goes for Hamilton Property Group -their agent). 6 months after settlement they don't even have a building permit! They won't give me answers and refuse to get things into gear and get onto site. They've told me they've applied for permits, etc. when they hadn't and I only found out when I called the relevant bodies. Avoid them like the plague!
