Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 19, 2017 2:12 pm United Energy is asking for 20 business days for quote + 30 buinsess days from payment to complete the work !!! Yikes!! Can anyone please help me find a way to expedite this? United Energy is asking for 20 business days to PROVIDE a quote and 30 business days from that point to install the power pit. I am doing a knock-down / rebuild - single family home - with Porter Davis in Mount Waverly (3149) in SE Melbourne. Does anyone know if there is a way to expedite this? 50 business days is almost 3 months! Porter Davis is going to charge me $1000/month for each month that the pit has not been installed. Q1. Is it true that they cant even start the ground prep before the pit is installed? Q2. Do I HAVE to wait for United Energy? Can I hire my own contractor to do this work? Q3. Whenever I call United Energy I get routed to a call center in Manilla - they refuse to allow me to speak with anyone that can help with the actual scheduling (I think they get dinged if they escalate calls). This is ridiculous... I have had pits installed in 3rd world countries in about a week. They have exactly NO place that I can visit locally that I can speak with someone who hopefully know what they are doing. Q4, Happy to pay an extra fee to get the work done sooner -at least in other countries without law and order we can BRIBE people when bureaucracies become too inefficient - but hey we live in a G20 nation so not only is our system bureaucratic and stupidly slow - but because of our "laws" we cant even find a way to make the system more efficient. Terrible --- did not want to vent - but feel blocked in from all the angles and everyone seems to be happy to charge us the homeowners penalties and nobody seems to care about providing a decent experience. Thanks in advance for your responses and apologies for the rant... Re: Any way to Expedite Underground Power-pit Installation? 2Jul 19, 2017 2:23 pm I presume you are speaking directly to the connections department? UE Connections United Energy and Multinet Gas T: 1300 131 685 (or try 1300 131 689) When I booked my job in last year, I spoke to people based in Australia, not offshore, but things change I guess. In respect of question 1, I guess this depends on your builder. I would think it would be fine for them to do the site cut without the need for the pit, provided that power was abolished. In respect of question 2, I believe you have to use UE (or their appointed subcontractor) as you are dealing with electricity assets which are outside your property boundary. Hi JW I just read your post and I find this situation quite strange. When we build, we get a temp pole for construction which becomes the permanent pole for one of the… 1 3934 1 4082 Thanks for that, the PVC pipe is still about 40cm below ground level and it sticks out of the sand with no end cap or anything on it just open pipe, is this the finished… 2 9510 |
